Subject: RE: Columbus, OH Endurance Sports Expo - free! I went to it last year. A lot of the race companies have a table at it. There were samples of sports drink, clearance race shirts, race schedules, bike stores with bikes, that kind of thing. I would say it is not worth a long drive, except that I'm not aware of very many endurance sports expos in general - even nationally. This one is not any big deal - I mean, there aren't any clinics or anything. It seems like they had a stage last year, and someone did give a talk about something. It's in a pretty nice building. It took up as much space as, say, a hotel ballroom or something. It was fun talking triathlon with people in the dead of winter. I went alone last year and took my kids, so I spent most of my time making sure they weren't touching $5,000 bikes or anything. And most of the people there were kid-less, so there was not much love for my kids, honestly. But my kids were excited to be downtown at night with all the lights, so they didn't care that much that there was nothing for them to do. I remember that HFP had a beanbag game, and if you made a certain score, you got a free tub of HEED or something. There isn't really any representation from outside the region. If you look at the sponsors at the bottom, it's mostly Central Ohio peeps. It is smaller in scale than a marathon expo. More tri-specific. Ask me any other questions you have! |
