Looking at Tri Find, looks like a couple of interesting races:

6/18: Mary Meyer Fitness Cottage Lake Super Sprint: .25 mile swim, 9 mile bike, 1.6 mile run x 2 (Yes! S-B-R-S-B-R)

7/17: Summit Plummet: 3 mile run, 43.5 mile bike, .5 mile swim - Time trial format (2 leave every 15 seconds), 7000 feet of elevation drop (3100 on the run, 3900 on the bike).

Anybody looking at either of these events?

I helped out with the Mary Meyer event last... September? It was interesting watching it, and looked like a different kind of challenge. I may give that one a try myself if I'm not otherwise occupied that day (like maybe TIMING that event).

The Mary Meyer event looks interesting and is not too far to travel so if I'm not too beat up after my HIM I may attempt. Was curious, they say wetsuits are allowed as the water will be in the mid-60's but for 1/4 mile do people bother especially for the second swim? I could not imagine struggling to put a wet wetsuit on mid race.

Is the bike course flat?

Yeah, interesting point about the wetsuit; I don't think I would bother with it, but I know they run a "once-through" version of the race (a real super-sprint), and I'm guessing some people who are doing it as their first tri, or are not too confident in their swimming, or some other valid reason would like to wear a wetsuit.

Would be interested in hearing about the bike course layout as well, if anybody has any experience. Its closer than ChelanMan, a lot cheaper than TriRock, and has a unique format... color me intrigued!

The summit plummet is held by my old tri team.  It looks an utter blast!!!!! I think I have prior commitments that weekend however......  There are SO many things I want to do this summer, but a lot of them aren't triathlons. I think I'm over that...

The Summit Plummet appeals to the downhill-loving biker in me!  I am strongly considering it.  That weekend is chock full of events, it is so hard to choose one (or two).....

I *might* have a free entry to do the Mary Meyer, so in that case, I'd do it.  I am a sucker for free events!  I had friends do the double and they had fun, didn't bother with wetsuits. Cottage Lake is small, so hopefully not too cold!

There are a couple short hills but with the course being 9 miles you just hammer the entire way.

I've done the Mary Meyer for the past 2 years and it's a blast. The atmosphere is great and I always encourage folks to try it.

I did the once-through version (with a wetsuit) because it's really good transition practice, esp. being so early in the season.
