Anybody have a 105 groupset that they want to unload cheap?
8,9,10 spd?
Does not matter.
Just want to upgrade from my Shimano 600 group.
I am sure someone out there upgraded to dura ace or ultega

Thanks

Isn't 600 the predecessor to Ultegra? If so, wouldn't it be a downgrade to 105? Newer, maybe, but a lesser quality?

Edit: from Sheldon Brown:

Shimano 600: Became 600EX when indexing was introduced, 600 Ultegra (Gray finish) when 7-speed added. When it became an 8-speed group, the 600 designation still existed, but it was usually referred to as just "Ultegra". With the '98 model year, 9-speeds came in and the "600" designation was completely dropped from Ultegra.

Bear,
If that is the case, what would you recomend?
Its the Shimano 7 spd 600 all the way around.
Now, if 105 is new, would it not have better technology?
I am new at this so take it easy on me

I would recommend upgrading to Ultegra, but then I have no idea of your budget, of what bike/frame you're riding. If it's worth upgrading, then NEW Ultegra is less than $250 more (50% more) than 105, at least HERE , and is considerably better than 105 IMHO.

Whether or not NEW 105 is better than what you have now, I have no idea.

How hard is it to put in a whole new group? Do you know off hand what a LBS would charge? I was amazed at how expensive of an upgrade that would be. In my case I would be better off selling my bike and getting a new one with Ultegra.
Any help on those questions is appreciated.

That's why I referred to the quality of the frame. Most bikes that are sold with Tiagra, for instance, have a frame that is worthy of those components and none better. I just have to shake my head when I hear someone say they are going to buy a $500 bike now and upgrade the components later. No matter what kind of horns you put on a jackass, it's not going to make him a steer.

From Sheldon Brown.
Going to a 105 9-10 spd. Impossible with your bike.
Best bet is to refurbish your group.

Thanks to the BEAR for letting me know some info on my bike group.
