ok I'm finally posting my swim. It's not a full 100 because my toe cramped at the start. I should post that one because it's pretty funny. but anyway... I noticeD my stroke gets a little wide at times depending on what side i'm breathing. It also looks like my feet are spread a little wide at times. Let me know what you guys see. This is not how I pictured myself and I'm not to thrilled about it. Will be working on a more consistent hand placement this week. The link goes to my FB page. I changed the privacy settings so that anyone could view. Please let me know if it doesn't work.

thanks peeps!

Worked for me....but from the video it's hard to tell what's going on.  Looks like you are swimming at a diagonal.  Your arms look like they enter and remain straight, but the pull on one side looks wide...pulling you in that direction?  I'm no help, I know.

Not an expert, but yes it looks like after the catch, your arm moves directly to the side to pull - instead of down.

I'd work on pulling straight down, then a strong finish near the thigh. My coach has me think of it in terms of a lightbulb shape. Deep at the beginning, finish shallow near the thigh.

We need some swim experts to chime in here....I wouldn't try to correct this problem by pushing straight down if I were you.  From the video you are missing a lot of rotation.  I actually think your stroke looks okay.  It's almost better that your arms are wider instead of crossing over.  Try to get more rotation.  Your recovery shoulder isn't even out of the water in most cases.

Are you saying a proper stroke involves pulling to the side?
I'm going to have to strongly disagree with that.

Nope, because of his lack of rotation, in order to keep his elbow high, he's pulling at almost a diagonal.....after watching the video again, I can't see a pull to the side as being the major issue.  Instead of rotating, he's staying flat, so that arm after the catch stays out to the side.  The catch comes first, which is good, the elbow is still nice and high, but there's just not much rotation.  You see what I mean?
