You can't take in that many calories a day lose weight, and stay healthy. That just agravates me. Now every fatso who regularily eats at Mcdonalds is going to eat there even more. Our society has gotten so pathetic. Edited by David14 2005-08-12 5:27 PM |

Champion 6285 Beautiful Sonoma County | Subject: RE: McDonald's Diet I'm sure it's all about moderation. My problem with McDonalds and other places like that is not just that the selection of food is so fatty and finding something healthy is a challenge (even their salads are full of fat). Not, my problem is that it's just the homogenization of America (and the world). Whats the line? The meat of 100 different cows go in on patty. And it's made in a factory God-only-knows where. When I go to the Taqueria down the street, I see the people making my food. I know that they grilled the meat themselves, cooked the beans themselves, chopped the tomatoes and onions and cilantro for the salsa themselves. I watch them make the horchata (sugary, cinnamon drink) in front of me. To me, it's a kind of connection to the food I'm eating, and the people who prepared it for me. I still eat things that come in a box, but I've worked hard to limit how much processing my food goes through before it gets to me. Also, what about the recommended 7-10 servings of fruits and vegetables per day. Can you get that at a fast food joint? And then, on Special Features part of the Supersize Me DVD: the amount of garbage created over the course of that month. We eat at home probably 90% +. I know there's just two of us, but we manage to only put out the garbage can once a month (and that's because we have to change the cat litter every week), and the recycling bin probably twice a month. Fresh food just doesn't make that much trash. I don't blame people who go to fast food every now and then. But think of all the waste created by people who go regularly. The impact of these places isn't just on the waistlines of their consumers. /rant |

Extreme Veteran 360 Lafayette, CO | Subject: RE: McDonald's Diet I know, when I read it I thought WTF. Now we're going to have every fast food restaurant wanting a spokeman like the guy who lost all that weight at Subway. No sir. I'd rather eat at home or at a little local joint ANY day. Really drives me nuts when these huge corporations come in and just swallow the little guys, then claim they are boosting the economy by creating jobs. But that's Walmart, and that's an entirely DIFFERENT thread... |

Champion 7704 Williamston, Michigan | Subject: RE: McDonald's Diet Too funny. I have a friend who is perhaps the healthiest person I know and she works for McDonalds ironically. She does real estate development looking for places to put restautrants. She runs marathons and does tris. Hasn't had beef in like 20 years. Will only eat McDonalds salads. The Corperation wanted to do a piece on her but she refused because she thought it was flase advertising as she won't eat their food...except the salad of course. |

The fries were in the jar (not air tight) for 10 WEEKS and nothing happened to them. So disturbing. |

Our society has gotten so pathetic. Sure you can do it. If you're 50 pounds overweight and limit yourself to 1400 calories a day, it doesn't matter what those calories are. You will lose weight. Now that doesn't mean it's healthy. But neither is Atkins, and that works, for losing weight. But it's not healthy. |

New user 723 | Subject: RE: McDonald's Diet So what would that mean. A salad for every meal of the day? Besides even with there salads you'd still be pushing your 1400 calories a day. |

Champion 11641 Fairport, NY | Subject: RE: McDonald's Diet I'd be a little worried about someone who took "Supersize Me" personally enough to go to the extremes these people did in defense of McDonalds. They're doing ok, really. The McD corporation is in no danger of collapsing due to a documentary. Of all things to put that much effort to, why that? There's a value system just screaming to be mocked. |

I mean, why would you . . . why would anyone . . . and she lost weight? . . . and her major goal is to defend mickey D's . . . but she doesn't actually eat the fries, which come with every meal . . . it's like going to Joe's Crab Shack and having the rice pilaf and a glass of water . . . . but why would you call CNN about that . . . but, I mean, I don't understand! |

Member 44 Muscle Shoals, AL | Subject: RE: McDonald's Diet That is really sad that she is hell-bent on defending McDonald's. Anyone can lose weight eating only 1400 calories a day. I wonder what her lipid profile looks like after eating 3 months' worth of Mickey D's beef. I would wager that her cholesterol, triglycerides, etc. are higher than they were when she was 37 pounds heavier. |

Extreme Veteran 360 Lafayette, CO | Subject: RE: McDonald's Diet betsybromley - 2005-08-13 6:13 PM I don't care I love McDonalds- I will eat it once in a while as a treat. If you can not splurge what's the point. That said is America the fattest nation in the world? I would guess yes, take a trip to a theme park. Those who appear obese American, thin European!!!! This may not win any popularity contests but thats my opinion, and we all know whats said about opinions Um, I TOTALLy hear you. I don't like McDonalds but I LOVE Wendys which is basically the same thing, sans freaky clown and with a cute pigtailed little girl. French fries are my downffall and I am not afraid to admit it. But I do try to limit myself because I know that it's all crap going through the ol' digestive system, and I'm in no mood to have a heart attack at age 22. |

A small order of fries is a reasonable portion size. Happy Meals are perfect for me to get my occasional McD fix. I went on a Happy Meal diet a couple years back to collect the "Babe" toys for my god-niece. |

My only complaint about McDoogles is that they don't have Ranch dressing in a container for dipping fries in. mmmmm French Fries! Who gets upset over food? Who gets upset over what OTHER people eat? Did I tell you I love fries? |

I would rank Wendy's fries #1, then In-and-Out's, then Arby's straight fries, followed by McD. We should do a fry poll. Heard that Wendy's is coming out with spicy chicken fingers. All I have to say is "it's about time!!" OK. Back to celery sticks. I have 20 lbs to lose. |
