Try to stay on course a bit better

Relaxed in T1 not wanting to make any silly mistakes. Took on a Gu and headed out. Surprized that the time was 3 min.

I can save some time here by speeding up a bit.

Comments:

After a mile or two I looked down at the front chain ring and saw I was in the middle ring. I thought pedalling was easy. I quickly shifted up onto the big ring.
At mile 10 I was passed by the first woman at mile 11 the second woman. They passed me in the swim last year.
What would you do differently?:

Pay attention to my gears sooner

What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I'm plenty happy enough with that time
Post race
Warm down:

Erm I was so excited at my time and performance I forgot.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Look. I just smashed 12 minutes off my time from last years race and you ask me what limited my ability to perform faster. Lets get real here.

Event comments:

Placed 15/22 in my age group. Next year I'm going to shoot for top 10. Looking at this years results all I have to do is pick up 3 1/2 minutes.
I love this race.

Knocking 12 minutes of a race in a year is an incredible accomplishment. That 40-49 age group is a tough one; I think you can get top 10 or better though. You look to be in excellent condition with a body type that would mold into a good triathlete. I don't know what a typical training week would look like for you, but there are plans that will get you to progress quite quickly, and plenty of knowledgeable people on this board willing to help. I give a lot of credit to those on this board for helping me with some crucial issues. Send me a PM if I can help you in any way in the future.

Great to meet you at the dinner. I am sure that we will run into one another in the future and I look forward to the encounter.

Thanks David;
I appreciate the words of encouragement. My training was pretty relaxed this year. I think from now on I need to be more of a slave to the Heart rate monitor for one thing.
I'll set this as my A race next year.

We'll see you there next year. Who knows, with the way we're all talking the race up there will be a big BT contingent there.
