Total Time = 1h 20m 52s
Overall Rank = 21/180
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 3/14
Pre-race routine:

Up at 4:00am and out the door at 5:00am for 1.5 hour drive to race site. Wheat bagel and some Accelerade on the ride over. A few crackers before the race.
Event warmup:

Light jog and some stretching
Swim
  • 09m 46s
  • 586 yards
  • 01m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

Decent swim. Time trial start by entry number. As number 166 of 185 I was toward the end and there was some congestion on the course. Consistent solid effort.
What would you do differently?:

Be closer to the front
Transition 1
  • 02m 18s
Comments:

Not bad. Pretty good run from swim to transition. Some trouble with wetsuit removal cost a little time.
Bike
  • 44m 2s
  • 17 miles
  • 23.16 mile/hr
Comments:

Pretty good ride. In looking at my power numbers I should have probably pushed a little harder. But, given lack of biking for most of the 3 weeks prior to the race I'm satisfied. First race with new bike and the Di2 is great! Fastest "race" bike split for me so far.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe push a more consisent pace. I think I started a little too strong and backed off too much over the last half. Intensity factor of .915 and should have been a 1.0-1.10 for a sprint. First sprint distance race in 1.5 years so need to work on shorter race pacing.
Transition 2
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

Decent T2. Nothing too good and nothing too bad.
Run
  • 23m 42s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 39s  min/mile
Comments:

Didn't feel great on the run although felt better over the last mile. The nature trail segment was cruel. As an old man I like running on "softer" surface but winding uphill segment near the end of the run was tough.
What would you do differently?:

Should have pushed the pace more. Would have like to have averaged around 7:15/mile. Oh well, will just have to keep at it.
Post race
Warm down:

A little stretching and wandering around.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing. I'm pretty satisfied. Tried to use the multisport function on my Garmin 310xt but screwed something up after the swim-need to practice on that.

Event comments:

First time event. Everything was outstanding. Small field but a great early season race in a pretty setting north of Biloxi. Nice goody bag with shirt, socks, a couple of water bottles and the ususal gels and coupons. Tons of food, drinks, music and covered seating at the finish line. Race results posted quickly. Volunteers were great. Lots of good prizes in the post race raffle. Very well done. Will definitely keep it on the calendar for next year. Fun event.
