Subject: Any Triathletes in the Flint/Grand Blanc Area??
Is there anyone out here that might be interested in some training rides/runs in the area? I'm pretty close to downtown Flint and would like to try and find more areas to ride around here.

Welcome! We have a pretty good group in the surrounding area. I know some live in Lapeer, Fenton, Grand Blanc and I am in Flushing. I ususally run around the neighborhood during the week and go to a park on the weekends. I ride from my house west to farm country. You can do just about any distance you want.

Like Jason said, not much group stuff on the weekdays, but you can usually find a group doing something on the weekends.  Being early in the spring, most of the weekend stuff is still just running, but give it a couple more weeks and a lot more bikes will be on the road.

One of the favorite locations is Kensington Metropark, straight down 23 to 96.  Island Lake is across the street.  Two nice parks, that are very athlete friendly.

Post up what you want and when in this forum.  You can usually find some takers.  Jason (jgrindle) and I have been getting together most Saturday mornings, training for the Bayshore marathon.  We normally run at one of the Holly State Parks, or Kensington.  I won't be around this weekend, but next weekend you are welcome to join.

I live and ride in the farm country Jason is talking about. Really good roads, for the most part, and little traffic. Assenmachers has a map of the routes in my area that many ride. Also, I don't know when they are starting, but on Tuesdays and Wed. they are having group rides starting in Lennon.

Davison here.  I ride the lapeer-Millington-Columbiaville area or Davison-Hadley area.  I run between Davison-Lapeer area, Hadley Hills and Holly Rec area.  Swim at Hurly and Holly Rec area.

I am a 3rd shifter so most of my time is by myself in the mornings after work

Awesome info, thanks everyone. I've just been riding out towards the Flushing area the last week or so. Once you get out of the downtown/suburban Flint area, the roads are pretty nice. Not too much traffic. And yes @puppetmaster I am a Kettering Student, B-Section. So I'm in Flint from April - June & October - December and in Rochester Hills from July - September & January - March.

You guys are hitting up the Bayshore!? Awesome! I'm heading there too, bringing some friends along for it.  I'm a TC native, did the 13.1 in 2009.  Great race, either of you run it before?

I was there last year.  I think this is Jason's first time, not sure.  I ran the course last weekend and it was awesome.  I forgot how much I like training on the peninsula.
