Subject: Prince.....

Saw him way back in 1984 or so on Purple Rain, then also that year at the Grammys.

He announced a 21 date stint in L.A. but is only announcing specific dates piecemeal....   Got tix for next Saturday night.  Will be interesting to see how he's aged, altho the reviews for the first show last night are pretty good

Chris, all I know is the guy was phenomenal at the Super Bowl a few years back.  It was quite refreshing to see an artist who plays real music and doesn't lip-synch.  Have fun, sounds like a blast!

I would've liked to have gone to 1st Avenue/Seventh Street Entry (Minnesota) to see him back in the day.  I did get to see Phantom, Rocker, and Slick there, though.

Jealous!  I love Prince.  I just can't help but to smile when I hear his songs.  I even dressed as Prince for Halloween one year in college...

Sounds like a great time!  I lived in his neighborhood in Mpls in the late 80s.  Always big news when there was a Prince sighting.  He continues to produce and make great music.  I heard an interview not too long ago about his producing something with Dolly Parton.  She could only rave about him (pun intended).  Nice to see an artist who continues to grow and influence others in a creative way.  Have fun!!

Saw him a few years ago on the Musicology tour. Still puts on a great show. Hoping he comes back to the east coast.

I heard most of the tix for the LA shows were only $25.  He was on the George Lopez show on 4/13 and did 3 songs. Check it on demand if you get it.

He's so on my concert Bucket List.  I could have seen him around NYE at MSG but I didn't have the cash for tickets   I would even let him give me a copy of The Watchtower if he was ever in my 'hood; I don't answer the door for just ANY Jehova Witness! Innocent

Keeping my fingers crossed that the Beastie Boys will announce a run at The Garden in support of their new album coming out in May, because the'yre also right at the top of the concert Bucket List as well!!

Saw 2 shows on the Musicology 2004 tour. Had about 6th row seats for the second show. So close I could see the rhinestones on his heels. Great show.

Enjoy!

I'm right by Minneapolis, saw the Purple rain tour and several un-announced visits to first ave back in the day.  He was awesome then and is awesome now.  I even got a little tour of his recording studio Paisley Park..  he wasn't there at the time.  It's a big white building all lit up with purple lights at night.  Turns out he is a football fan too, they often show him sitting in a suite at the Vikings games..

Listened to "Sometimes it Snows in April" all day yesterday as the snow came down. Love that song.

If anyone has a link or info on his future tour dates (couldn't find any myself), I'd love to see him if he comes to the midwest.

You ain't kidding, his set list from his first L.A. show:  http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/prince/2011/the-forum-inglewood-ca-63d3aa1f.html

6 encores.  And the reviews said so many people left when the lights came up that by the time the last encore came around, there were more empty seats than people.

The show is AMAZING!  I didn't get tix in 1984 for the Purple Rain tour and regretted it ever since.  Saw him at MSG in NYC about 6 yrs ago or so and again at the O2 in London about 4 yrs ago - both shows were great.  But neither compared to last Thursday night.  Wow.  BEYOND worth the $25 - and my seats were incredible too.  I got into the Lopez Tonite show and was blown away (my mom got to call in a favor for ME!  Her friend's son is the prod).  There were 400 people there, we were right in the center just off the floor and just...wow.  Once in a lifetime.  That man and his band are truly incredible.  You will have an awesome time on Sat.  I'm going again on Friday and can't wait for more tix to go on sale.  Laughing

Ooooooohhhhhhhh, I get it now!  "Purple Rain" is all about crying over the many losses the Minnesota ViQueens have encountered.

O.K.  I'll take it..  It's a bad year to be a fan of any Minnesota sport!  (Almost every year is a bad year for sports fans up here)...

Hey, fellow Vikings fan!  This thread could be prophetic.  Prince Amukamara is rated to be the #2 cornerback, and our secondary is terrible.  We could make a worse pick than Prince at #12!

I went about 5 or so years ago in Columbus.....4 rows back and was in awe the entire time! What a show.  I also remember many years back my boyfriend coming over to stay the night after a night of too many adult beverages and we put on Purple Rain.....well.....about 90 minutes later we realized it was still playing the trailer Innocent
