This past year I used Endurolytes and these are extremely popular.  They seemed to work well during training but during two halfs I did have cramping issues.  I've recently learned Endurolytes have a pretty small dosage of sodium chloride compared to many other "salt tablets."  Endurolytes will tell you about other electrolytes it replaces besides salt and that is why their dosage is so low.

I'm going to try something else shortly but haven't figured out what yet.  Look at the makeup of the products on this page to show you how many more Endurolytes you need to take to get the sodium chloride yoou MAY need.  http://www.personalbestnutrition.com/cgi-bin/pbn/scan/st=db/se=Salt%20Tablets/sf=category/tf=title/sp=results2.html?id=FWD6BUzr.  I have been recommended Thermolytes but don't really knwo much about them yet.

I used thermolytes by sports quest last year when training for my marathon, and may stay w/ this, but wanted to see what was out there..

I have used Enduralytes in training and a 1/2 IM and I have had zero cramping issues when I use them. I sweat salty, so I have one or two per hour after about an hour on the bike.

Do you have cramping issues?

I did a half IM with nothing more then Gatorade Endurance and gels w/o any issues. The Endurance formula has twice the sodium of regular Gatorade.

BTW- It was sunny and 90.

almost every electrolyte tablet will work the same.  hammer states that in chelate form it's more readily absorbed but I'm no scientist so who knows.

how much you use is VERY individual.  i use 1-2 in weather 75-85 degrees and move up to 3-4 in weather 85-100 degrees.

be careful using gatorade for your electolyte replacement during LONG events such as 1/2 IM and 4-6 hour rides because the simple sugars they put in it can impair your body's ability to burn fatty acids for fuel and basically cause you to be downing gels all the time like there's no tomorrow.
