Last year you could wear a wetsuit. If you did it would have been very hot.

I have to think it will not be wetsuit legal.   It was not even close last year.   I did it without the wetsuit.    I'm kinda glad now as I got over caring anymore if a race is wetsuit legal or not.   If it is great, if it isn't, well I have done it.

It did make transition a lil quicker hee hee

This is the first time I've signed up for Muncie.  What made you all decide to come back and do it again?

First time for me and I agree, in all likelihood non-wetsuit.  So, going with that plan accordingly.

Anyone from the area.......we'll be staying down just south of Modoc at Kamp Modoc (travelling with family).  Any issues driving up race morning from there?

Getting stoked....first 70.3 for me.

Just signed up. This will be my first HIM. Does anyone know if this is expected to sell out? I noticed last year has about 1500. Is that the max? Just curious

So I've finally booked my $50/night room at days inn. Starting to ramp up the training a bit. One 1/2 marathon down this year and couple more over then next month and a half. Might even get wet before too long. Predictions on race day temp? I'll guess 90. 82 for the water.

I did this race last year as a prep for IMLO and had a blast. Decided to do it again b/c one of my training partners had a tough time with muncie and wanted to get his revenge. We had all planned to sign up however one blew out his knee and the other succumbed to lack of motivation. . Looks like i will race solo.... However having difficulty finding my motivation too. Hoping the nice weather will rekindle something

i live here in muncie , so first let me say as a resident... WELCOME...modoc camping you should have no problem gettting to race in the am just plan to leave early, first time at the venue i would recommend one of the pre race meeting at registration check in.... there was a  last minute change to course, ie..small change in bike course from previous years when the race was the "muncie endurathon"...bring you wet suit but dont plan to use it, prarie creek resv. is a shallow resv. that warms up quickly and stays warm...although i have seen 5 - 10 degree temp drops within 5 days bring wet suit as a back up...bike course flat fast and no real climbs, 95% of the course is closed highway....run, well this is where most make there mistake by over looking key  factors for this course,   (1)  it is 95% all open and little shade so run will be done in 80 to 90 + degrees (last year  temp @ 1pm 93)high humidity,  (2) one Roller after another entire course(out and back course)...do not underestimate this run course, i grew up on that course and (HS CC and Track) trainned there and i know just how punishing that course can be...it may not look it on a map but it can punish you....well good luck and once again Welcome to Muncie where we been doin tri's for over 30 years....

Thanks for the information! I'm trying to decide between Muncie, Racine and Lake Stevens. What is the run course like? I live on the Texas gulf coast- lots of heat, humidity and wind but no hills. Muncie looks like it is best suited to my strengths.

If I had a choice, I would pick Muncie over Lake Stephens. I have read lots of reviews about LS and they are not very favorable. Not to mention the weather in Seattle is always a crapshoot, even in the summer. I did Danskin in August one year and had to endure monsoon rain in pretty cold temps. Can't speak for Racine, but there is my 2 cents on LS and Muncie.

wind on the run would not be much of a factor....it may come into play on the bike for the leg out which goes south for half the course...but in reality wind to your back the other half...avg wind spd 5 - 10 mph out of the south west....cant say i have done LS so i would be a little bias...I will say this though you would be hard pressed to find a race that the town loves having...volunteers IMO are the best around....

I'll take 5-10 mile an hour winds any day of the week! We don't have hills but we have lots of wind.

How hilly is the run course? What are average temps for July?

A lot of the reviews I read about LS complained that there was little to no crowd support and that the town really hated having the event interrupt their day. Also the road conditions were a common complaint.

30 minutes tops, most of your drive to race site will be on part of the bike course (US 35)....they dont close off that road until right before the pro's so you would be fine leaving 30 minutes prior to when you want to get to the race site....parking is usually done very quickly, like i said we've been doing this for 30 years, so they (volunteers)  know how to do it right....any other questions feel free to post or send private msg

lees inn i know where its at as well and about the same time 25 - 30 minutes tops....just depends on what you want to do...camp and be self sufficiant or stay in hotel and eat out....(modoc does not offer much resturant wise

How is everyone's training going? After what happened at New Orleans on Sunday (canceled swim and shortened bike course, turned into a duathlon) I am so ready for Muncie. Hoping to better my 5:48 from last year.

Signed up for this after the NOLA 2nd annual fiasco.......looks to be a far better run race with less hassle compared to NOLA.

66 days..........
