Greetings from Kansas City, MO. I began training this summer mostly due to a fluke. At the pool with the kids I decided to swim a couple of laps. The next day I did a few more. I enjoyed it and two months later I'm putting in 1000 to 1500 yards about 4 times a week. It feels really good. To help my technique I checked out the book "Swim, Bike,Run" and got introduced to triathlons. The bug bit me so I've started walking/running also. At 41 I'm starting to see the weight shifting around my middle...so that's my motivation. We'll see where it all goes!! Look forward to visiting with you all...

Welcome to triathlon - I re-introduced myself to the sport a few months ago and I'm hooked.
I live in California now, but I'll be moving to Ft Leavenworth in December/January (not too far away).
Have you checked out KC Multisport (a triathlon club)? I'm planning to check them out when I get there, but I hadn't heard anything about them other than their name and website.

Welcome to BT,
Jason

I haven't checked out KC Multisport too closely....I think they may be South of me quite a bit. I'm about 15 miles North of downtown. I believe there's another tri club in the area, haven't got any info on it yet. Good luck with the move

Hi Shawn - I, too, am in the Kansas City area training for a July, 2006 tri (Door County Tri in Wisconsin). What are we getting ourselves into? ;-) I haven't checked out the local tri club scene personally, but plan to in the future, closer to my tri. It looks like we have a few nice clubs to choose from - kcmultisport.com and trikc.org. Good luck in your training! Looking forward to following your progress!

Hi Leslie, good to hear from you I'm not sure what we're getting into?! I'm enjoying the training, but running is not my thing. I've already got some good tips from the board. People are very helpful....I hope I can contribute someday (hopefully I learn something useful to add!).
I'm training for a tri in Pella, Iowa next June (dutchmantriathlon.com). It's close to my hometown. Good luck!
