Dura Ace components ..  Any thoughts on this bike?  And whats the best way to find a fair price?  Looked at it today, looks excellent and I know who's maintained it it's whole life.  Priced now between 2000 and 2500 but OBO it seems

Great bike! Price wise, I am not sure. It is three years old.

A few things to look for:

  1. What seat clamp does it have on it? In 2008 there were two different pro models one was more reinforced in the seat tube area than the other. The one that was less reinforced did cause some cracking.

Old seat clamp - http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/photos/show-album.asp?albumid=8524&photoid=78149

New seat clamp - http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/photos/show-album.asp?albumid=8524&photoid=108674

  1. Some smaller hairline cracks have been known to form around the area where the front derailluer cable comes out.  Look over that area really well.
  2. The little “winglets” that are on the downtube can break off. Not realy a big deal just examin the tube closley for any sign of damage.

Thanks for the info!

Question , how do you think something like this would compare to a 2011 Felt B16 ?

Parts wise, I can only guess off of what you are saying is a Dura Ace bike vs an Ultegra bike. Fit wise I can’t give you an honest opinion as I do not know much about the felts.

The fit of a Transition and a Felt are quite different. I ride a Transition. They seem to work best for long leg/shorter torso, whereas the Felt is pretty much opposite of that from what I have read.

Transitions are great bikes but I would be sure the fit is going to work for you.
