first month = 3.5 lbs per week

second month = 2.5 lbs per week

3rd though 7th month = 1 lb per week

8th through 10th month = .5 lb per week

for me, it obviously gets tougher - - but I'm still determined to kick it up a notch for 2 up and coming summer tri's and somehow drop 15 lbs within 3 months... and keep it off and stay fit dammit!!!!   :)

It has been around 2 to 2.5 pounds a week for the last 6 weeks or so. Gonna slow a bit soon I am sure but loving it while it stays in that range.

I hear ya! I'm caught in the middle...continued weight loss or performance. Do I continue losing weight and risk not being able to perform at what I would consider my peak performance?

I know a lot of people that do low carb, keto diet and/or the Paleo diet hear from so many people that you should start adding starches back into your diet or your performance will suffer. Then I have met people that have told me not to do that - don't fall into that trap.

I find that at around 2500 cals I can loose about a pound a week and keep my performance in a good place.

Some weeks nothing.  Some 1 pound.  I've had a couple 10 pound weeks too.

All since mid-March I have lost 35 pounds.  On average 2.5/week.  (I did have about 4 weeks of being sick that I should take out of the equation) . If you want to take that into consideration I'm loosing almost 4 pounds a week.

Not starving myself.  Eating VERY healthy high protein diet.  Low starch.  And busting my butt doing cardio and some lifting.

By the way; I feel better and better.  Actually gaining performance.  2 years ago I did a sprint and 1 5k.  Last year; nothing.  Chronic bad knee and fell off the wagon.  Since March not only have I ran a 5k I'm doing a 10k in 3 weeks.  If you're doing it right you CAN loose weigh AND gain performance.

Just calculated this out the other day oddly enough. I've averaged 2.66 lbs lost per week for 9 weeks now. On track to hit 3 lbs lost (10th week) this week. Consistency is key!

Mine has been zero the last two weeks...I had to choose between continuing to lose weight or improving performance.

I stopped dieting and started to focus on fueling myself in order to perform better. My goal now is to not get carried away eating carbs because I think i need to fuel myself. I need to stay steady at this weight (unless of course my weight loss continues except slower).

I only "carb up" with either a sugary sports drink or a Power Bar 60 minutes before I train, drink the sports drink during the session and then immediately after I also consume something like chocolate milk.

Two days before a race I will try to add rice, beans/legumes,sweet potatoes, etc. No bread or pasta. The only bread I will have is 3 hours before my race on race morning - a whole wheat bagel - one side almond butter; one side jelly. Then a Power Bar about 1 hours late. A GU right before the swim start, a GU right before I get off the bike.

Then back to a higher protein diet the rest of the day and until my next training session. Seems as if it is working. Performance is better when I target my carb intake, haven't put any weight on and haven't dropped any weight either in something like two weeks.
