In T1 looking for my Schwinn Huffy
Subject: T1 - road bike shoes on pedals

Anybody use road bike shoes (instead of tri shoes) and leave them clipped in when coming out of T1?  I've got that belt latch and don't have the heel loop so it's a little difficult...I've been practicing but was looking for any tips....thanks

I used road shoes for years with no problem.  But they do take more attention than tri shoes.  A few tips for you...

1.  Never leave the velco flapping around since the straps are on the inside and have the potential of getting caught in the drivetrain.  Mate the velco, just make it as loose as possible.

2.  Since you won't have a heel loop, I just loop the rubberband around the eyelet of the velco.

3.  Always get your driveside foot taken care of first going out of T1.  And always come out of your driveside shoe last when going into T2.  This will minimize the amount of flapping velco on the driveside.

I have the same issue also and have tried it both ways, leaving them clipped in and putting them on after the swim.  I don't wear socks so for me it seems easier to put them on after the swim unless you have a long run from the transition area to the bike course.

I would appreciate an tips as well.
