Who has one and how do you like it? I just use an application on my Droid right now for miles... but no pace. I usually stick to companies that specialize (garmin) but this watch seems to have good features. I just want the basics.

If you mean the Timex Global Trainer GPS here is a good review.

It seems like a great training / racing tool. Local tri store sells them for $210.

Is this what you are referring to?

I talked to a guy at my Local Running store when I was looking at different watches and he said it was a good option. I went with the Garmin 305 though as it has a great history and good reviews.

No...I think he meant the Nike one which was recently released...which was also reviewed by DC Rainmaker.

Yes, that one. Garmin is the leader and I have looked at some. I would just get a basic one. All the features are cool, but after I'm done playing with that stuff when it is new, I only use a few.

Saw the Nike one in my running store. Employee had one and was showing me stuff. I already have a Polar strap. Seemed pretty feature rich for the price. I think I will get one but want to check with you guys to see how it is with actual use.

Had it for 4 days and 4 runs. Returned it. It sucked...badly. It looks great, but that's all it does well. For one, it won't give you average pace. I figured I could get over that and instant pace would be okay. Wrong. Over three runs from 4 to 6 miles each, it was always wrong...by at least a full minute (fast). Even if I wasnt comparing it real time with a Garmin, when you upload the run, it would show a sharp dropoff at the end where it tries to jive with the final time/average. The distance wasn't accurate either. Right around a 1/4 (short) mile every time. Nile support was no help and basically assume you're a caveman with no common sense.I could see this being okay for joggers/walkers with no interest in accuracy, but anybody that takes their training seriously will find it worthless.

after that glowing review, I'd recommend the garmin or Timex.

I've got the timex global trainer gps and it works very well.  The pace smoothing feature works very well and it's very accurate.  If you go through trees the pace gets a little whacky at times, but the distance stays accurate.

Ya, now I'm not sure what I want to do. I have a bad habit of escalating. Since I'm spending $200... the 310 is expensive. There is one on CL here. And a 305. Folks seem pretty happy with those. REI has 110s on sale for $175... but I can get 305s cheaper. The Timex look good... kind of Flava Flav style though. Hummm

I think pretty much all the GPS watches are obnoxiously big, so it's a matter of having a big square or a big circle on your wrist.

I looked at the garmin and the Timex and ended up going with the Timex because it was a little cheaper and it was waterproof.  My wife is eyeballing the new 610 touchscreen, but I don't know if it's any good or not.

Good luck

And it seems to me just looking at comparisons that the actual 310 screen is the same size as the TGT screen.
