I will be having a one day and one day only pity party, all my BT friends are invited. Please leave your HTFU's at the door though.

I have been battling a nagging inner groin "muscle strain" for the last three months. I went to my sports medicine doctor yesterday.  He thought it was either torn ligament or a possible hip fracture, he did an xray, but it was inconclusive.  An hour later, I am in my first MRI.

I got the results about 2 hours ago. I have an early stage pelvic stress fracture. I am out for the next 6 weeks.

Please help yourself to the punch and cookies.

Sucks!

I had a MRI 2 weeks ago and met with two orthopedic surgeons since, conclusion is most likely no running for me in the future...knee is bone on bone in 3 places, not many options for me, and will either have a surgery that takes 6-12 months to recover from in hopes of putting off total knee replacement. After 8 years of participating in triathlons, the idea that I may never do another one is quite depressing.

Hope you heal up quickly and can back at it!

Injuries suck.

I tore my left gastrocs last summer and spent 6 months in PT for it.  On my last "official" visit to PT for that one my right gastrocs started to play the same game.  Needless to say, my "PT graduation" was deferred by about 4 more months.  I am on my own now.....but my legs are inconsistent.  Still cannot build much by way of the run or power on the bike for fear of winding up in that office again.

So I lost last season because of an asthma flare with bronchitis.....and a gastrocs tear.....and this season I am able to relay only.  As a swimmer (feel my pain, I tolerate swimming)

Have your pity party....but don't wallow.  Find out what you can do in the midst of injury and work on that.

Yow!  I've had what feels like an inner groin "muscle strain" for a couple of years.  Went for my normal checkup and he ruled out a hernia so I am just leaving it at that.  Doesn't hurt all the time but when it does....

Heal up and get back out there!

I'd spend the next six weeks building brownie points with the people who allow you to race!

Good luck with the recovery.

I hope you heal quickly. I hate to break it to you, but if your a "true triathlete" type, your pity party will last more than a day.

Seriously though: stay positive. I have a hard time doing this when injured but on days when I do think positive, it makes life so much better for everyone (me and my family).

been there- twice (one on each side).  Do NOT underestimate your recovery time.  Six weeks will be the MINIMUM you'll need.  Good luck.

OK... days over. Get back to work. The pool is open. Sounds like a good time to hit the weights and build back some upper body strength. Get back to core work you always neglect... OK... well that's me.... but enough loafing!!! Time to pull up the big girl pants!!!

WTH, I've been doing that for a year now Time to HTFU myself, and I indeed am. Glad to see you are too!

DOH--that sucks.  if there were an icon with fingers in the ears going "lalalalalalal" that would be me. went to the doc monday for a similar injury after a week out.  here's hoping it's only muscular.  all the best in a speedy recovery.
