Who is in for Kure Beach this Sunday?  I'm racing despite some minor nagging injuries.  I'm going to use it as a training race and not worry about time.

I'm not racing but I hope that the smoke from the wildfires goes away and that the weather stays a little cooler for the race.  Good luck!  Bob

I'm signed up and have a place to stay. thinking of just going down there and laying on the beach. work is kicking my and i just need to relax and racing just sounds like work to me at this point. Anyone talk me out of this slump?

Is there still alot of smoke? Anyone know the surf report? I rememember a few years back the waves were so huge that I couldn't get past them. but last year was perfect.

Come on Carol! You know you want to do it! You'll feel better at the finish. Besides Marty is racing there this weekend. Go for it!

Thanks Lorne, everything's fine.  I just spent a week at the beach with friends and have had my fill of the ocean for a little while.  It will probably take a week or so for my back to relax from fighting the waves.  I sure hope the sea is quiet early in the morning.  Enjoy!  Bob

The conditions could not have been more perfect.  The current made the swim crazy fast.  The wind was not a factor on the bike and run.  I had a great race.  The overall winner was Mason Boyles.  I think I heard he did it in 55 minutes and some change.  That kid has so much potential and it's great to watch him grow and get faster.  Crazy to think he is still in high school and he is already that fast.  Congrats to him and all the other finishers today!

He kicked my behind in my first event. I remember he stomped like crazy on the run, but he was still fast. I bet he doesn't stomp so much anymore. That was 5 years ago.

I did end up doing the race and had a great day. I just barely got to the swim start in time for my wave because so much running around setting up with the new packet pickup location. I had to rush past all the green cap guys saying "coming through, outta my way" to get to the swim start chute where you cross the matt. lolz. I should have picked my packet up the evening before the race, but I was laying on the beach all day!

This is one of my favorite races, very fun swimming in the ocean.
