Sunny
Total Time = 1h 08m 44s
Overall Rank = 16/152
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 2/13
Pre-race routine:

Nothing. I was running so late, it was just a matter of getting there, racking my bike and getting in the pool.

Today I was going with no bike comp/watch to just go with how I felt.
Event warmup:

None. Got my bike racked and set up my stuff, then went to the pool to jump in. As I stuck my little toe in the pool the RD looked at me as she announced "clear the pool". Guess any type of warm up just wasn't going to happen.
Swim
  • 03m 47s
  • 250 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

Just not sure what my issue is with tri swims. I know I am not a sprinter and had no warm up today, but my workout swims are so much faster. I really need to figure this out. Frustrating!
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster!!
Transition 1
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

Had a little problem getting my shoes on, but went sockless again and it seemed to go pretty well.
Bike
  • 38m 21s
  • 12 miles
  • 18.77 mile/hr
Comments:

I had no idea where I was riding (time wise) since I was riding with no comp/watch. I felt strong, but I had remembered this course being flat so it was a little harder than I thought it would be. And the speed bumps through the neighborhood killed me. But, had I known I was barking at the 19mph door I may have been jazzed to push it a little more.

There was a guy out there that was not happy about getting chicked. We played leap frog several times and after my final pass he drafted off me for quite a while (I tried slowing down and speeding up - nothing worked). I've got his #, so I'll get his name and be on the lookout for him in the future.
What would you do differently?:

lose the guy
Transition 2
  • 01m 17s
Run
  • 24m 15s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran with no watch, but did carry a water bottle in case I had issues on the course. I felt like I was scooting kinda slow up the hills, but it is where my body was.
What would you do differently?:

The last two races I have gone with no comp/watch and it has been interesting. Next race I will wear a watch and see how that goes.
Post race
Warm down:

Just hung out. Met up with Doug - I really enjoy hanging out at races with him - and waited for the awards ceremony.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

This is the third weekend in a row that I've raced and between that and the kids out for the summer I'm tired.
Next race is in a month and it's an Olympic - yea!

Event comments:

Rebecca and Finish Strong are awesome. I love the Finish Strong races!!!
Rebecca has done a great job with this race. I've done it all 4 years, and it's a good race that raises a lot of money for the SmileTrain.
Great race, great charity!

I enjoy hanging out after the races with you too. We NEED to work on Wes and get him to the Rex Tri! Great race, especially for getting there so late. That would have put me on edge!
