I used to down about 2 a day, and my body reflected it. Now, I scoff at people who still drink them and complain about how they can't seem to loose weight, and they eat "healthy". Here is a link to the most informative video I have ever watched. It is about sugars and how the body metabolizes the different kinds of sugar (OMG there is more than one kind?!?!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBnniua6-oM&feature=player_embedded Seriously, it is about an hour long, but you will probably re-evaluate what you eat and when. Life changing stuff here. Ah yes. The Lustig lecture. Which has been torn to shreds by people who are actually objective about things. |

Extreme Veteran 611 Casa Grande, Az. | Subject: RE: Nutrition ........Non "processed" food ideas JM2 - 2011-07-05 6:59 AM And back to our regularly scheduled program........I like to snack on nuts, and fruits. KISS is in mind......So, I've been really trying to make some dietary changes and move away from processed foods. The general/most consistent idea from pretty much all the science/research seems to be to eat natural, real, whole, un-processed foods (I know, revolutionary thinking, HA). So we've been hitting the fish market and farmers market, and staying away from anything that comes out of a bag, box, or can but are having a hard time coming up with some variety. Anyone have any favorite dishes, snacks, etc. that they'd recommend? Edited by todds 2011-07-05 4:01 PM |

And speaking of carrots....were we speaking of them? Anyway, did you know that baby carrots are actually the hollowed out cores of BIG carrots that have rotted or are otherwise not fit to be sold as regulation carrots and must instead be placed in a little bag and labelled as "baby carrots" so that people think they are cute and will gobble them up? Huh? Did you know that?? |

Extreme Veteran 646 | Subject: RE: Nutrition ........Non "processed" food ideas I made a Persian omelet (kuku sabzi) that was mighty tasty - mix together about 3 cups of chopped spinach, a handful of chopped parsley, salt and pepper, 1.5 cup chopped green onioins, a tablespoon of flour, and ground cumin. Pour over that 8 beaten eggs. Pour all into a heated frying pan coated with olive oil (or ghee, but I can't get that here) and cook over medium for 5 minutes. Then stick under the broiler for 5 minutes. Full of greens with a bit of protein. Use eggs from a local farm you trust, if possible. |

That's the best wedding gift we got, was an ice cream maker. My fave is french vanilla, my wife gets the vanilla pods and extracts the beans herself. mmmmm.... John |
