I am looking for Portland/Vancouver area BTers to hook up with. Anyone out there?? How 'bout a run through Forest Park, or a bike ride along Marine Drive?

How long are you here for, and where are you staying? Hope you're enjoying the NW!

I work near 21st and Thurman and run in Forest Park after work occasionally. Mornings and lunch are also a possibility.

I live in NE and routinely ride Marine Drive with my hubby. A weekend run in Forest Park would be fun to, but I'm kindof a slow runner.

There's a group from my office that meets on Thursday afternoon to ride up to Vancouver Lake for the weekly $1.00 time trial hosted by the Vancouver Bicycle Club.

Thursday is our Portland Wheelmen ride night. They leave from Wilshire Park in NE Portland and do a 26-ish mile loop.  Yours sounds fun too. I've never done an organized time trial. What time does it start?

E - were you thinking on a weekend? That might work best for me - especially if bikes need to be carted to wherever we meet. I work in downtown portland, and the logistics of picking up hubby, getting home, then loading bikes, etc. would be a bit of a challenge on a weekday, but it does stay light late.

I would love to do that! I kinda want to go out to Hagg Lake sometime in the near-ish future and ride, and get used to those hills! A ride anywhere would be a-okay with me, and I agree with Leigh...a weekend works best for me too. But I have to warn you...I'm a loner here, and I am not used to group rides! Be gentle!Wink

Here is the link for the Vancouver Time Trials:

http://www.vancouverbicycleclub.com/trials.html

Our group leaves NW Portland (21st & Thurman) at 5:15pm for the ride up. Sometimes we stop for pizza on the way back.

I keep forgetting this page is on the forum. I would be up for a group ride some weekend and/or evening.

ell-in-or: I think we're "neighbors" kind of. I live in Laurelhurst, ride Marine Dr. regularly and run through Alameda, Hollywood, Irvington as well as Laurelhurst in the mornings.

garodgers: your Thurs. night group meets right by my office. (20th & Wilson) I haven't done the Thursday night time trials in years. Maybe I'll join you sometime. I need to dust off my TT bike. It's been sitting on the trainer for, well for a long time. I've been riding my fixed-gear for the most part this past winter and spring.

You're welcome to join. Just show up at the Con-way bike cage before 5:15pm on Thursday and introduce yourself. Heck, you might already know some of the folks.

Sounds like we are sorta neighbors! I live over in Roseway, and we've probably seen each other running in Alameda. My husband and I ride through Laurelhurst occasionally on the way down to the waterfront. We mostly ride Marine Drive though.

I like your quote!

Yeah, I might. I used to swim masters and occasionally ride with some guys who work there, or around there. A couple of them who are very fast.

It won't be tomorrow, but I'll have to take you up on the offer to meet up there in the near future.

Conditions were perfect. Nice and cool with NO wind -- which is unusual for that location. I turned in a 26:20 for the 10 miles with an average speed of 22.79mph. That's a personal best for me. I'm looking forward to later in the summer when my bike fitness improves.

Hey Ell in Or - I ride out at Hagg Lake all the time. Would you be up for riding out that direction this weekend? What kind of distance are you looking for?

I live near Nike and work downtown so I mostly ride around the westside and run the waterfront and springwater trail.

FYI - There's a bunch of people OWS at Kline Line Pond in Vancouver this Wednesday at 6:30pm if anyone is interested.

I keep forgetting about this forum!!  I need to just subscribe to it.  I'm game for Hagg Lake...I need hill work.  I've been swimming with Bonnie (leopard8996) at Klineline that last few Wednesday's.  I plan to continue and we have a nice group that swims out there...all levels.
