Comments: They posted my avg pace as 8:26, so I fudged the race distance to make time fit. They posted people at mile markers to yell out time. I was 8:11 at mile 1 (a personal best) and 17:16 at mile 2, and 26:08 at finish. I clocked myself ast 26:01 at finish, so I guess I was too eager on my watch. My age category was small and not nearly as competitive as other categories. For example, the winner of women age 50-54 ran it in 21 minutes. What would you do differently?: I felt great! A woman with a similar build to me, passed me about half way through the course, and then I just paced her to the finish. She finished about 10 seconds ahead of me. Post race
Warm down: Walked around parking lot, and then checked on kids. What limited your ability to perform faster: me. Event comments: A good small race by our local YMCA. There were not a lot of racers, but runners of every type and build. My husband ran it in 21:13! Wow! We chose this race because it had a kid's race, and it was close-by. There was a kid's race before our race. We cheered them on, and helped them cool-down afterwards. So proud of the kids!
