I did my first Olympic Distance Tri today, the Great Lake Escape in Lake Erie. It was awesome. There were many moments where I thought I woulnd't finish. We started off by being taken out by a ferry boat a mile away from shore, and the start was a jump off the side of the ferry boat, mass start, men first, then women 1 minute later.

The ride was fast & flat, but I had to stop at the portapotties several times due to severe GI cramping and diarrhea, yuch!!! The run was the worst for me, and making matters worse still, it was almost all sand! Most of it was hard packed or wet sand, but miles 5-6 were in soft sand. Oh the agony!

I crossed the finish line in 4:02, and won one of the lotter spots for the Escape from Alcatraz next summer!

From somebody that I know who's done Alcatraz...be sure to wave/say hi to Robin Williams...his house is on the bike course, you should pass by it two times I think.  From what I was told, he gets out there and cheers people on.

Congrats and good luck!!!
