I know I've seen this discussed before but I couldn't find it. My running shoes are getting so wet that it is like I've been wading in the creek instead of running. Who has put water vents in the bottom of their shoes and how? Did you notice a significant difference? Thanks.

ZOOTs have drain holes in the soles.  6 of them in my Ultra TT 4.0s.

I haven't ever tried putting them into shoes that weren't designed for them.  I'd guess it's shoe specific and also a little dangerous.  I say dangerous because you could puncture an air chamber or gel chamber designed to support/cushion your sole which could lead to pain or injury.

I also run in Zoot Ultra's and the drain holes work incredible.  I was out running a couple weeks ago when it was near 100% humidity and I was soaked from head to toe in sweat.  My shoes were soaked from top to bottom and I noticed that every time I took a step there would be little water spots on the ground where my shoes were draining.

Haven't needed drain holes in any event yet.  Does mean I'm not going hard enough?

I would guess that you don't run in places like Texas or Florida where it can be in the 90+ degrees and 90%+ RH.  Running shoes can get pretty wet after a few of those miles.  Or at least mine can.

It's not just for the sweat from the heat, it's mainly for the water cups and sponges that most people dump on their heads during the run. A lot of that water ultimately ends up running down your legs and into your shoes.

Thought I'd heard aid stations get get quite a bit in there.  Lucky so far.  Not in Florida or Texas, but do still run outside when it's 90+ here, sometimes ~!00.  Not sure of humidity though.
