Anybody know of a good bike fitter in Wake county area.  I live in Eastern Wake so the 5 county area is close as well.  Cheers   -Bill

Greg Combs in Southern Pines is rated (by Slowtwitch) as one of the best bike fitters in the country.  His company is called VeloSmart.  He also does VO2 max testing as well as run gait and swim stroke analysis.  I have had the bike fit and VO2 max test and am very pleased.  He has also helped me with orthodics for my shoes.  He has been a great asset in my preparations for IM Louisville this weekend.  You can look him up on the web at velosmart dot com.

Thanks everyone.  I have a date w/ Mike B at inside out in cary.  I'll let you know how it goes.  $75 seems like a fair price anyway

if that doesnt work, try Cycling Spoken Here in Cary. Motion Fit analysis, from foot mechanics to range of motion to video analysis of pedal stroke and bike recommendations.

I had a good experience with TLC for Bikes in Bedford. Gary is pretty casual, but passes on along of cycling advice at the same time. I'm very happy with my fit.

So Mike B fitted me about 10 days ago.  He lowered, extended and flattended me pretty much.  I ride a Trek 1.1 with clip on aeros.  I immediately felt more engagement of my legs throughout more of the pedal stroke.  My first few rides were OK but my endurance dropped way off and my speed was not up.  I've got about 100 miles on the fit now and endurance is returning and speed is improving.  My 35 mile route was about 0.5 mph average faster than my best and my legs feel like they have a ways to go to really get used to the new muscles engaged.

Short story = I'm happy with my $75 investment.  Thanks for the tips

Glad it has worked out. You may want to go back in a few months to reassess as your body adjusts to the new position.
