Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 33/37
Pre-race routine:

Tried to eat a bit of toast with PB and drank some water. I just cannot stomach any food before a race.
Event warmup:

None. I probably should consider adding a warmup.
Swim
  • 11m 29s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 18s / 100 meters
Comments:

Darn it if I didn't chicken out again at the start! I really need to start in the front of the pack since I am a strong swimmer. I wasted time waiting for everyone to wade in and start swimming and then had to spend time weaving in and out to pass a bunch of people. I should easily be swimming sub 2 minute 100s.

I really did enjoy this swim more then my first one. I can't wait to do my next one!
What would you do differently?:

Stop being such a gosh darn nice person and push my way to the front!
Transition 1
  • 04m 2s
Comments:

Pulled on shorts and a shirt over my suit. Then socks, shoes, helmet and off I went. Not sure why it took 4 minutes?
What would you do differently?:

Need to buy a tri suit. That might cut a bit of time.
Bike
  • 53m 4s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 14.05 mile/hr
Comments:

SUCKED!!! I don't know how much I can blame the bike but I felt like I was riding a tricycle with all those speedy people passing me on the road and tri bikes. I want to fly down the road like them!
What would you do differently?:

I have trained as hard as I can on the MTB bike. I can't imagine there is much more I can do. I need to get a new bike and keep increasing my mileage.
Transition 2
  • 01m 16s
Comments:

Helmet off, racked bike, pulled the race belt on and off I went. I can't imagine what else I could have done.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe I could have ran quicker from the bike rack out to the mat but I was fiddling with my race belt.
Run
  • 37m 20s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 12m  min/mile
Comments:

Much better then my last run. I walked a bit but I gave it my all!
What would you do differently?:

Keep training!
Post race
Warm down:

I walked around a bit and met some people from my city. I also talked to one of my old neighbors and a guy from work. And I got to hang out with a group of BTers! Nliedel and I finished pretty close together and then I hung out with to rkreuser, rennick, mitrigirl and trixie.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I wasn't 100% conditioned for this race. I had some personal issues over the past couple of weeks and wasn't really planning on doing this race to begin with. I am so glad I did it though!

Event comments:

I loved the cold towels at the end and the cold water at the drink stations!

Kim....great Race!

Already on your second Tri you have learned a lot and that knowledge will help you in all your future events....like starting in the front more in the swim, perhaps buying a Tri suit (now is a good time to get one on sale) to improve T1, you run was improved from your first Tri.

Thanks for sharing your race report!!

Way to go....keep up the good training and watch out next year!!

Good race report. I raced one tri with a mountain bike. It's not worth it. You'll be much happier with a road or tri bike.
So, what were these weeds like at the first bouy? Were they underwater weeds? Floaters? I hate weeds, but would like to do Stoney Creek sometime.
