Good morning BT!

After a major narcoleptic attack yesterday (I am a diagnosed narcoleptic...after my 6 mile run yesterday I laid down around 9:00am and couldn't be roused until 6:30pm!) I am feeling pretty well rested!  Went back to bed at 9pm and slept well until my alarm this morning.  Kind of stinks that I lost a whole day though!

4:15am:  35 minute run
5:00am:  Insanity Max Cardio Circuit.  I'm into the 2nd month--workouts are longer and harder.  Uuuuuugh!

Have a great training day!

Kim: Is that something you have to be careful of when going about your day, or do you know when an attack is coming on? I ask because I was going to say that it's a good thing you were where you could lie down comfortably and rest.

As for me, last week was a bust because I was a crybaby Sally and my husband had Air Guard drill during the weekend, which means minimal level of physical activity.

Today though, 1.5 hours of yoga, where I choked on my own spit trying to negotiate "breath of fire", then 30 minutes on the bike.

Nice movin' and groovin', Southie!

Although I always just have breath of fire anyway.

Mornin' everyone!

Yesterday:  4 miles running to keep up with my 6 yr. old DS while he rode his bike on the park bike/hike path.  Wicked!

This morning (early!):  1.25 warmup run, core and upper body ST, then PT for my shoulder, which is acutally ST, getting a little more intense.

Good job on your races, everyone!

Today, I have already run an easy 2.7 miles with some plyometrics in the wet grass tacked on to the end.

I will swim this evening. Debating regular pool swim versus open water with the club.

I tracked a run today. First time I've tracked in well over a year. It was short and slow, but my longest in over a year.

I pulled out of IMWI last year due to a torn ligament that I had been training with for most of 2010. I went into surgery for it two weeks later and found that it was hard to get back into running after losing so much fitness. I picked up An Accidental Athlete: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Middle Age by John Bingham and got motivated to get back to running. I've been slowly progressing from all walking to walk/run over the last month.

I'm going to keep tracking runs and hopefully that will help me stay motivated to keep getting out there. I might even track bike rides too, thought I've been almost exclusively riding dirt this year. I don't track distance for that because the effort to cover a mile varies wildly depending on where I ride so if I track anything, it will just be time.

On tap for this week:
Today: Already ran followed by 30 minutes of yoga. Riding Camrock trails near Madison, WI later today.
Tuesday: Riding Blue Mound trails south of Mt Horeb, WI.
Wednesday: Riding the Sugar Bottom trails near Iowa City, IA. Yoga.
Thursday: Run. Yoga.
Friday: Off, or maybe go for a swim with all my new found motivation.
Saturday: Long day on the mountain bike (or no riding and go for a run instead. Yoga if I run.)
Sunday: If I don't get my long day on the mountain bike on Saturday, I'll ride into/home from work at the bike shop. Gives me 2, 1 hour rides. If I get the long day on the bike on Saturday, I'll do a run on Sunday and will drive to work. Yoga if I run.

Just to clarify because it looks like I'm going from nothing to a full week, I've been riding 4-5 days a week all summer and run/walking 2-3 days a week for the last month with occasional open water and pool swims when the mood strikes. I'm just now starting to feel motivated to stay consistent and get back into shape outside of cycling.

I blew off my lunch swim at noon. There was no good reason.

I'll run later this afternoon -- 3-4 miles. We're in the 90s again. It's so nice. I've missed the heat. (I can't believe I just said that!)

I hope everyone is having a great day.

3:15 am bosu abs

2:45 pm 3.5 mile run.  It was a bit of an adventure, I was going to run in the morning, but hubby was looking for a running partner when he got home.  We were about 1.5 miles in when we got chased by a large mixed breed dog.  At least no one got bit, normally there are no lose dogs on this route, but the one house sold I guess the new people must own the dog.

I do have to be careful when I'm going about my day--but I can feel my episodes coming.  During my teaching time, I never, ever sit at my desk.  However, my prep time is a different story!  I will often have to put my head down on my desk, have a 20 min. episode, and then get to work.  It's handy sometimes, but kind of a pain other days--especially when I lose a whole day like yesterday!

Congratulations!

Went out to do 2000 yards in the pool but my back got stiff after 1200 so I rested a bit and finished up with another 400 yards of stroke length drills.

Weird end to my day.  Tried to get an hour in the pool, but had to wait for a lane at 9:30 at night, who woulda thought?

Ended up only getting about 1000 mtrs in before I had to call it quits.  Looking at getting about 4 1/2 hrs of sleep tonight...not good for the training.

been remiss about posting because my training's been spotty the last couple of weeks.  life got in the way.  back in the saddle again with some self inflicted punishment.  15 mile stationary bike ride (45 minutes on fat burn program) and 2 miles on the treadmill. back to the pool tomorrow--thank goodness for the kids' swim class schedule.
