Do we really want to make it Monday?  All that candy floating around next week..  This plus the fact I'm going to get my a$$ handed to me during the 20min test.  I vote for waiting an extra week until the "official" group gets going.  But that's just me.

Also, should we do the 20min test before starting?  I thought I saw previously that the plan would start off with RPE (maybe?) for the first week or so and the tests came later?

I am HERE! I am super excited to have E3 Training Solutions and Beginner Triathlete collaborating with this cycling plan 4.0 and even more that now, you guys will have it available to import it into your training log!

The dynamic for the ongoing plan for those who want to start it and follow the virtual training group, will be the same as in previous years. We'll have an ongoing thread on the Challenge me forum where you can ask any questions re: the plan and I'll be happy to help, keep each other motivated, encourage new members to join the program, etc. Also, Mike will link an excel Google doc where you guys can keep record of your testing and track your improvements, compare vs fellow members, etc.

We are shooting to be able to start perhaps on Monday as long as Mike/Ron have the materials ready, otherwise will wait. The new version 4.0 is a 16 week program where the first two weeks serve a preparation before we do the 1st round of testing. that way for those just getting back onto the training train, you'll have a few weeks to get your legs ready. You can see the outline here to get an idea.

I'll start a new thread on the Challenge forum. See ya guys soon!

I have already imported it and am ready to go (but on Tuesday as Monday is my race day).  Thanks again Jorge, Mike and Ron.  I am sure I will have a bunch of questions for the other thread (in fact, I already do).

Got on teh trainer last night in the first time in forever, lasted 45 minutes.  Have to get the butt in shape as well  :^

I have the same question.  I have all of the 3.0 workouts printed out which I refer to during workouts.  If the new workouts are different, then I'll scape the old and print the new.

For those with powermeters, I made up some Excel spreadsheets for weeks Prep Week 1, 6-10 (the dreaded workouts from hell and Test Week), and week 13.  Just enter in your critical power, and your 20min Max Power, and the power ranges come up automatically so you can just print them out.

PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send them to you.

ETA: Obviously this was from last year's v3.0, not this year's.

In general is rather similar, but some workouts are different, I change the structure a bit and made some other workouts 'easier' or more intense based on the feedback from last year.

boostedcvc - 2011-10-27 9:56 AM Do you have to be a performance member to import the plan into your training log?

Yes, importing plans into Planned Training is a Performance Member feature.

With respect to just participating in Cycling Plan 4.0, what is one missing out on by not being able to import the plan into the training log (i.e. not paying for a performance membership)?

Thanks,
Steve

You're pretty much just missing out on being awesome.

J/K...but it's a time thing.  Putting each planned workout in the log takes a lot of time.  BT has already done that work for you..well worth the money IMO.  And I like being able to compare my planned vs. actual training.  Keeps me on my toes.

Will non-performance members just be able to view/print it out?  That doesn't seem to be available right now.

I'm definitely getting in on this one! Looking forward.

For completeness, those of you that have done this before, how did you integrate you swim and run into the plan? I would like to to the 4-day option - really going for the most bang I can get - but I don't want to end up losing a lot of ground on swim/run. Also, how about weights? Anybody put weights into the mix?

-Kirk

Weights - no, I haven't tried to incorporate this.  Swimming, and running yes.  I averaged 3-4 rides per week last winter following the program and at the same time ran an average of 3x and swam an average 3x per week.  The running included trying to get ready for a 1/2 so it included long runs.  To do it I was doing quite a few 2 a days, usually riding in the mornings and swimming or running in the afternoon (I can do that on lunch).  Long run/ride saved for the weekend.

Couple of takeaways.  Session 1 of every week is IMO the toughest and I usually saved this for the evening since HR, etc. is lower (for me).  As to the running, I had a fantastic HM, and attribute some of that to the fact that my weekly long run tended to be done on slightly tierd legs, but on race day I was well rested and had fresh legs.

Oh, and my FTP/CP increased by about 10% from start to finish of the program.  I'm hoping to duplicate that this year.

I don't see 'View Complete Plan'.  Just 'First 2 Weeks Details'

Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place.

It's not a button like "First 2 weeks details".  It's a link right below the plan title and beside "Import to your training plan"
