Finished Beach 2 Battleship 70.3!!
Race highlights:
I crashed my bike at 35 miles, talked 3 spectators through putting my dislocated shoulder back in place, got back on my bike, biked 21 more miles, had race volunteers sling my arm up with t-shirts, ran 13.1 miles, finished the race in 6:46, collected my metal, and then went to the ER and found out I had also broken my clavicle in the bike crash.

Thank you for all the help, support and concern from participants, vols and spectators!  Y'all Rock!

You could shave a good 15 min. off of that time if you work on reducing your own shoulder!

I had heard people talking about your crash while I was in the warming tent recovering.  Just getting thru the bike was an accomplishment given the weather conditions.  To do it all banged up is 10x's more bad a$$!  Congrats!

Was that you with the yellow shirt tied up in a sling? Way to push through!

I crashed in a HIM back in June but it doesn't sound as severe as yours. That'll make a great story!

Wow. That's impressive.

(I can't imagine how you were able to ride on with a broken clavicle though. That's a seriously painful injury.)

Hey,

nice job in finishing up.  I can't believe you dislocated the shoulder AND broke the collar bone and still toughed it out- unbelievable.

I met you Sunday morning at the breakfast at Blockade Runner, that was cool.  I have dislocated my shoulder about a dozen times, and it is PAINFUL.  Way to go man, again- unbelievable in finishing.

Congrats, and speedy recovery.

Yeah but I bet a dislocated shoulder is more aero when it is hanging against your chest instead of blocking wind.  Lets just call it a push.

yea.  Some vols made a shoulder immobilizer out of a couple of long sleeve t-shirts.  So am I technically DQ'd for taking outside assistance ;o)  ?

Awesome job.  I saw you running when I was on the trolley heading back to the car.  Everyone on the trolley unanimously voted you a BAMF.  Well done.

Kudos to you. Awesome. I was watching on water street just before you turned left up the steep hill of Ann St. Saw you going out and my 1st thought was ow bike wreck and then I thought way to HTFU. I was still there when you were headed back in (so about 3mi to go) I was rather impressed and you even had a happy demeanor and thanked me when I offered some encouragement. Not only a hard core mofo but evidently a class act as well.

 Congrats.

wow, great mental and physical toughness. only thing i can picture is Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon getting out of the straight jacket.

How do you talk people through putting your shoulder back in place? are you familiar with this?

I'm a nurse practitioner in a hospital ER so Ive reduced a few dislocations.  I don't advise banging it against a wall like Mel does though.  It's more of a steady pull and gentle rotation with a good deal of screaming involved
