Well I have a new bike picked out for next season. It's a really great ride w/ dura Ace and a Carbon/SL aluminum frame but it comes with really entry level wheels (Mavic Aksiums). I don't have a set of racing wheels yet and if I save up for the pair that I want after buying this bike (Kysirium SL) I'll have had to race the season with the Mavics that came with the bike. Now the other option is I buy a pair of Kysirium Elites to get me threw the season but I'll be hard pressed trying to justify to my mom why I have to spend around another grand on new wheels after I just bought some (even though it is my own money). Advice?

I would just save up for the Kysirium SL and race on the stocks. Unless you are a possible podium placer or you're close to qualifying for something, I don't think it's going to make that much a difference but that's just my opinion.

What's the racing wheels going to save you over your entire race, several seconds per km?

Oh, I assumed you were talking about tris since we are in a tri forum. But hey, If you are a podium placer and need those wheels, my mom would not be stopping me from getting there. I'd go out and buy them but you know what, my mom wouldn't know the difference either (like yours possibly might) since it's not her $ and she can't tell one wheel from the other.
