This was my first open water swim and it was a little freaky, but it was ok once I got going. I was kinda scared about the rocks at the start but it was fine. I started out a little slow cuz there were so many people, but once I got past them i picked it up. I was swimming kinda medium pace along the buoys and when i went around the last one, I picked it up til the finish. I felt pretty good and the lady at the ramp said i was the 3rd girl out. But then a lady passed me while I was running down the pier.

My first transtion was really bad!!! I could not get out of my wetsuit. My foot was stuck and i couldn'y get it out it took like forever. My shoes went on easy.

The bike was the hardest for me. It was long and there were cars and they scared me cuz they were going like really fast. There was gravel on the edge of the road and i didn't want to ride in it cuz i mite fall so i was trying to stay over from it but the people that were passing me didn't say anything so i was scared i was going to run in to them. It was windy too.

The second transition was good. I got outa there fast.

The run was pretty good i felt good the whole way. In the begining i would run the blocks adn walk across the streets. Then i was just running. There was another kid there and he caught up with me when we were at 2.5 so we ran together the rest of the. But he sprinted to the finish line and beat me. Idon't do sprint!

The race was pretty good. My grandpa came and my aunt and two uncles. And i got a pineapple! It was cool.

Way to go! glad you enjoyed it!

Scared isn't so bad in some situations - makes the adrenalin flow and keeps you safe!  We had lots of wind and cars at my tri yesterday too that made everyone a little nervous some times.

Get some rest, then get back out there!

Great job, herdaughter!!

Believe me, every first open water swim is a major adjustment! It will only get better from here on out!

Great job, and enjoy your pineapple!

That's terrific that your family was able to come and watch you, I'd love for that to happen!

Great job Herdaughter, and nice story about it too. Thanks for writing it. You are smart to be a little intimidated by fast cars when on a bike!! Some drivers just do not seem to see us sometimes, or misjudge where we are and where they are.

Keep up the good work -- and keep reporting to us.

Congratulations Herdaughter! This is your second tri already! Sounds like you adjusted to the swim after a bit...you're a trooper! After all this experience, you will have to give advice to folks like me who aren't racing until July.

Wow, that is so cool. Congratulations! In my race, I got a bottle of bike polish...I would have rather had the pineapple. Now just think how easy the next one will be!

Way to go Herdaughter!  Each race is an experience and something to take with you to the next race.  Good luck at Meek and Mighty!
