Fellow BTer's

If any of you have experience withthis procedure would like your feedback. Looks like me lateral meniscus has a tear and a syst. The MRI was shpwed these issues and the dr seems concerned that the meniscus could be suffering from some degenration issues possibly arthritis..this would be a worst case scenario but the dr cautioned me that he wont know till he gets in there and looks around.

I assuming I have the lateral tear and syst. The syst in no biggie can be removed but the tear on the lateral is in the area that doesnt get much blood flow and is questionable as to whether or not it will heal.

Wondering if anyine else has gone through this?

thanks...Seth

The Cyst is probab;y a result of the meniscus tear. Usually you trim out the torn part of the meniscus. It has a lousy blood supply. You can't tell if it is repairable vs resectable until you physically look at it. PM me if you want..I'm an orthopedic surgeon

I just had mine repaired, or rather, cut out, two months ago and I am skiing, doing karate, running, and everything else. Go for it. With the right surgeon and a kick *** physical therapist (I can recommend one if you're in Boulder, CO) you should be good to go in a few weeks or months. Do it now while there are no tri's in the near future!

Yup...three times. Get the surgery. You'll be back on your feet within weeks and any knee pain will be gone! Best advice that I got was to prehab your knees before the procedure (if you are able to without too much pain). If you go in with well developed VMOs, quads, and hammies as well as good flexibilty, your recovery time will be far less. Good luck!!
