Now this is unusual. Monday I went out for a nice easy two mile run. I warmed up before, stretched after. No problems. When I got up in the morning my right ankle was a touch sore. I didn't give it a second thought "just the usual achy muscles" I thought. In the evening it was still sore so I looked at it, it was quite noticably swollen. For some strange reason I thought that a turn on the exercise bike would help. I figured there would be no pressure on the ankle just an increased flow of blood around it which I thought would be beneficial. It certainly didn't hurt at all while cycling.
This morning when I got up my ankle was back to normal and didn't hurt at all. In fact I expect to do a 3.5 mile run tomorrow. Am I brave or foolish to attempt this? and why did my ankle swell up for just one day?

Ian

Maybe it's that time of the month, Ian!

My little bit of advice would be to give it one more day of rest. But that's my uneducated, instinctive response. Just be careful, Ian.

Hmmm....interesting. I would still try running (although another day off might not be a bad idea). When you start running, see if it hurts then. If not, keep running. If it swells again or is painful, get it checked. Gout? Tendinitis? Excessive salt intake? Old injury rearing it's ugly head? Let us know what happens!

Pre run report:
No swelling, no pain, no tenderness complete motion of the ankle in question.
3.5 mile run here I come. The run will be a fartlek so I will be able to ease up if I start to feel anything

Well, I did it a 3 1/2 mile run. I stretched before and after more than usual. I did occasionally get a little pain in the ankle while running but nothing serious. AS yet my ankle shows no noticable signs of swelling
