Stupid bike. I went to get my bike yesterday afternoon for what I hoped to be about a 25 – 30 mile ride. I noticed that the front tire was flat. Rats. So I changed it with my only spare tube, and went on my way, warning Danielle that if I got another flat I would be calling her to come get me. Wouldn’t you know that, at the point at which I am the furthest away from home, I run over some stupid little white plastic square with two staples in it that sticks into my rear tire! Flat #2. The worst part of it all is that I was flying (for me). I am sure the wind is blowing in Lufkin, too, but my ride was with the wind for about 7 miles, then against, then with, then against in sort of a V shape. I had finished half of it, including the first into the wind segment, and was still averaging 19.6 mph! This is the same route that I averaged 17.6 on last week with much less wind. I mean, come on! Two and a half months with no flats, then I get two in one day!?!? It’s just not fair. Now it looks like it is going to rain all weekend, so I probably won’t get another chance to ride until next week. Stupid bike.

I feel you pain! In the past month, I have had 3 flats!! More than in the past 5 years. One from running through glass. That actually led to two flats separated by about 15 minutes each. The third from hitting an unsuspecting "sharp" rock. I just refuse to carry two tubes w/ me.

Ah . . it appears that somebody, somewhere, felt that you needed practice changing tires for an upcoming race.
Consider it "forced practice". Pedal on.....

Flats come in groups. I was screaming down hill the other day and ran over one of those reflector markers and instantly lost both tires. I thought I broke a spoke but they are ok. You wouldnt believe the feeling of going 25 mph with flat tires.

Careful now - them there bikes are sensitive - they need affirmation and praise. Yours is just crying out for a little attention. I don't have a name for my bike yet.  I thought of Lance, but the bike just laughed at me.  Harry, Mary all that - doesn't cut it.  I'm thinking maybe to name it Cork (after the county and city in SW Ireland my grandparents came from) - OR... hey, How about I name it Guiness?  ('Cept - there's some history behind the Guiness brewery that my clan would have a problem with.)  Maybe Blarney - but that might make the bike feel like I'm full of it - geez, I'm rambling, all a fluster with this name thing. Help - any good ideas? What do you folks have for names?
