Subject: Bought a new Bike

Well I bought a new bike yesterday and I can't wait to start riding a road bike vs my old, borrowed, too small, knobby tired mountain bike.  Here are the specs:

  • 56 cm
  • Shimano 105 front/rear brakes
  • Shimano 105 front derailer
  • Shimano Ultegra rear derailer
  • Shimano Ultegra Triple crankset (30 42 52)
  • 9 speed rear cogs 12-26
  • Shimano 105 shifters
  • 700cc Mavic Zsyruim Elite wheelset
  • Sidi bike shoes
  • Speedplay pedals

Of course it rained the whole way home and rained the whole evening so I haven't really given it a ride yet.  I spent more than I wanted to on the bike going in but overall I spent only $19 over my self imposed limit which included the shoes, bottle cages, helmet, extra tubes, tool, pump, bike bag and computer.  The 2004's I looked at were Trek 1000, Giant and Cannondale 800.  Tried the 1000 because it was a 56cm and the others were 54 & 58 and liked it.  It was marked down quite a bit and with the store sale knocking it down further I got a much better bike for only $150 more than the 2004's were going and the 1000 had some Ultegra components and a better wheelset.  Plus the the rep gave me 10% of the bike cost towards accessories.   I was worried about having buyers remorse, should I have spent the money, will it be worth it, is/was it a good deal, did I pay way too much ect.... but I don't.  I really like the bike and can't wait to start riding it.

That sounds like a great bike Rio. I have the same Mavic wheels and I am supremely happy with them, nice and light and fast. Congrats on the good deal, now cross your fingers and wish for nice weather!
