Subject: 1/2 Iron in 9 weeks
I just signed up for a 1/2 Iron in 9 weeks. I was in great shape until a car accident that left me unable to train until 1 week ago. I still am able to run around a 45:00 10K. So I am not in that bad of shape. Will I have any benefit from doing any Olymipic distances in say, 4 weeks or should I just devote my time to training? Does anyone have any training programs you can direct me to. I know it's crazy but I got called out by a friend who already had registered and bought his plane ticket to come to the event, and told me he would beat me by no less that 30 min. Wish me luck.

try the 1/2 im plan on the main site...not sure where your volume is though...maybe use the last 9 weeks????  if you do the oly in 4 weeks, keep it slow.  treat it like an easy brick workout.

great luck.

Scooter,

It's difficult to know whether it's OK for the olympic race without knowing your current fitness level. How long have you been preparing for this race? Aside from down time from the accident, how many hour per week/workouts per week have you been getting in?

Cheers,

listen to Ron - an oly might help you with transitions or mental prep, but don't be trying to have a world record performance- just make it a work out.

good luck with it-
