There are probably a lot of fellow 4:00 risers out there, but is there anyone who gets up earlier than that?

If so, when do you go to bed, and do you do 3:30 every week-day or split it up?

Mon - Fri up at 3:28 AM, at the gym when it opens at 4:30 AM for swimming or running, get to work between 6:30 - 7:00.  Saturday up at 5:15 AM for the weekly leg shaving then at the gym by 8 for pilates and spinning.  Sunday up at 5:30 AM and at the group ride meeting spot ready to go at 6:45.

I tend to be in bed at 9 and go to sleep between 9:30 - 10.  I don't get enough sleep!!!  3 and 5 year olds - Mom works out after work and I get to do whatever I want as long as it is before the crack of dawn.

Back in my highschool years, I used to go to bed at 9:15, and wake up at 4:45 on Tuesdays, wed, fri, saturdays (maybe bed at 10:30 fri night). The other days I'd fall asleep around 10:30, wake up at 7.

Now... whenever my assignment is done (say 12:30, 1), wake up as close to class as possible.

Of course does vary some but for the most part I am asleep by 9-9:30 and up at 3:30 or so. During the season I can get at least an hour or so of workout in that way before the sun is up.

The only reason I'm up at 3:30 is to go to the bathroom. On occasion my 2 yo will get me up at 4:30 but that's it. During the summer months when the sun rises earlier I'll get some training done but still in the 6-6:30 range - still not close to the 3:30-4:00 'vampire' shift.

Good on you all!

Alarm goes off at 3:50 Mon-Fri to go to the gym.  At work by 6:30.  Early, but not as early on the weekends.  I go to bed between 9:30-10pm.  Occassionally have to sleep in until 4:30 if I stay up to late due to things like "life".  I nap during my drive home from work.  ;>

No thank you!!

The earliest I get up is 5:15 on Mon./Weds./Fri. for swimming! The rest of the weekday is around 6:00 or so. Weekends I get to sleep in until about 6:45 (two young kids and a just under two year old dog who's body clock has to go out around 6:30 every morning - my fault).

who has a gym that opens that early?  My local Y's pool opens at 530am.  Yeah, but not good when you have to leave for work by 5:45 at the latest.  It's too dark to run alone, no partner, I"m not taking the dogs.   I wanted to run in the parking garage at work on the weekends (2/3rds empty) but my hubby told me it was a bad idea- it's in the inner city.

Lifetime Fitness.  It's open 24 hours/7 days.  I'm lucky too, because there is one 10 minutes from work and one near my house so I'm covered on the weekends and during the week I can drive in early to avoid the traffic.  What really amazes me is that I get there at 4:30 in the morning and there are people LEAVING!

Y'all are crazy, but really inspirational. In my perfect world, I'd work out at midnight. Anyway, I've decided to start getting up earlier (my early is 6:15 a.m.) to work in swims before work. That means a 10:15 bedtime - eight hours of sleep is a necessity.

I get up at 5:30 to go to work (actually out of bed at 5:45 and out of the house at 6 am). I swim at lunch and workout in the evening. I TRY to get to bed at 9. When I don't I pay the price on lost sleep.

Mon, Wed and Fri, up at 0600. workout and start work at 0900. Tue & Thur up at 0500 workout and start work at 0730. Weekends depend on whether I have class or not. up around 0700 workout late morning then enjoy the day...unless I am in class all day.

Boy, I thought of you guys this morning. I've tried 3:30 twice now, and both times God woke the dog up at 2. Haha!

I'm not really sure that it added what I wanted it to add. I was trying to get my God-time in before the gym, and it just wasn't there.

So I'll probably stick to the 4 time.

Lucy, your husband is right. That's not safe!

The dog and I used to run in the mornings, but it's so dark that we couldn't see a thing. We're safe out here but you can still trip over a turtle or something. Can't see anything. One morning she and I were running and knowing that no one was around, I cut loose with a little flatus and frightened a deer. Ha! The dog started to chase it... oh my... the fun we have with nature's critters. I hope that wasn't TMI because that's one of my favorite stories.

Viking Mom - Something to consider. I use my backpacking headlamp when I run in the dark. They are light weight, illuminate the road or path OK and it keeps me from tripping on the road kill. Of course I look like a dork when I go through the nieghborhood but then what the heck...

I've just started the switchover from PM workouts to AM workouts. We are usually ready to roll around 530 AM, which means I need to be up, ready, and out the door by 5 or so.... If we need to be ready by 5, I'm out the door @ 430.

I get up at the last possible minute. De-gooberize my face and run out the door with sheet marks on my arms and cheeks.

It's working out OK.
