Subject: Hello - and thank you!!
Hi everyone,

I've been lurking for a few weeks, since I decided to attempt my first sprint tri in September, but I've only just worked out how to post!!

I wanted to thank everyone for all the advice on here - on Monday night I managed my first 50m length freestyle!! I know that's nothing compared to what the rest of you can do, but it was a huge milestone for me. I just couldn't breathe enough before, but I picked up so many tips on here...

I actually did 5 full lengths, although with huge gaps to get my breath back in between - now I just need to string 8 of them together!!

    Belinda,

Just keep up the swimming...my friend Ronda was in the same position as you. She can now swim at least 10 laps (25 yards each way) without stopping. I think she is finally getting relaxed in the water.

    Good Luck

Hey Belinda! No shame in 50m. Thatt's all I can do at a time. Just stick with that and use breast stroke for your rest stroke. I've only been training for about two months now and I can already feel improvement!

Way to go Belinda! That's what I started with six swims ago and yesterday I was able to do 500 yards in 20 minutes. (It's my slow week so I could have gone more, but I was supposed to only do 20 minutes). So you'll be surprised at how fast you improve! I still can't go without stopping at least for a little rest, but it gets better every time I get into the water.

    Yay you!

    loads of luck to everyone,
