So I am starting to setup my tri schedule for the first time. So i see one near me and it's sold out already. This is freaking Idaho! Who the heck races in Idaho..come on!

Anyways, another one I'm looking at is talking about a USAT card of a 9 dollar one day USAT fee. Do I need the $30 dollar USAT membership to race in tri's.

Last question, Do you think an olympic tri is doable by someone just starting training (tuesday 28th) on Aug 12th as my A race. Thanks for the help.

No you don't need the card. You can purchase a one day membership. Yes, an Olympic distance race is very doable. Just follow a plan provided here on this site.

All races sanctioned by the USAT require membership - either an annual membership ($30) or a daily membership ($9).  So, if you do 4 or more races, the annual pays for itself.

You have plenty of time to train for an Olympic distance race in August.

That stinks that your race has sold out already.  You probably don't have a big selection of races in Idaho.

Yeah, but they do have Spudman. That seems to be a pretty popular race amongst my tri friends.

Yup. That would be the one that is sold out. Bummer. One of the closest races to me. Guess I'll have to be on the ball next year.9
