Comments:

We as a team tried to be much more tactical this time and it paid off. We got good positions on the start line and took control of the lead group right from the get go, first couple of corners were sporty with the rain in the pack but everyone settled down pretty quick. VeloTek was riding our wheel the entire time and would not come up so we pulled it back to around 17-18 mph, way way easy and they were happy to just stay there. BL - Total tactical race vs the hammer fest last time. Sprint lap I was in 6th when the bell went off, little farther back than I wanted to be but OK. Around turn 2 went to the front and sat in 3rd, turn 3 still 3rd around last turn Mark came flying out of know where and we were off...Brent and I took off and I stayed on his wheel for 2nd on the sprint (same team and he did the same for me last time). Right back to the easy cruise with the velo tek dudes not wanting to pull. Brent and I got our legs back way fast and we got the team back together and got the same game plan. Actually got the velo tek dudes out front with 4 laps to go. At 1.5 laps to go, looked over at Brent and said lets go, off we went to the inside before turn 3. Out of turn 4 was looking pretty good and Nukes (our team) comes to the inside out of no where and takes the lead to pull for Santa Fe!!! I hopped on his wheel until the 1st turn then he is spent but Jason comes along and pulls until turn 2 like a mad man, he totally dropped the hammer and pull me and Brent out of the pack. With a 1/2 lap to go I dropped the hammer and took off, Brent was late to go with me and I kept the lead from then on!! First win and it was an AWESOME team win for Santa Fe.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, we executed a great tactical race, especially for a group of dudes who just raced for the 2nd time together!!!
Post race
Warm down:

Cool down laps then had to bolt.

parrj - 2006-03-04 10:27 PM Congrats, but what is a crit???

Jeff , a crit is a criterium race.  Basically it is a a loop usually less than 1 mile,  this race had .7 mile loops.  Cat 5 Beginners (me) had 11 laps ~7-8 miles, where as the Cat 1/2/3's had a a total of 25 miles.  It is a point thing, not time and there are sprint laps that are worth additional points.  With out being timed it makes the race much more tactical than just pushing against the clock, give it tri...a total blast!!

Last race when it was dry the Cat 5s average 23-24, this week in the rain it was more like 20 - made it much more tactical vs a hammer fest.  As this is my only my 2nd race I am not sure what the typical averages are around here or anywhere for that matter!!!  But I do know it is a total hoot!!!

So you must be doing pretty well in points then, having won a prime in the first race and winning the second race. What's the prize at the end? Last year I won a crit series and I got a pretty cool yellow jersey. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too.

So is there a website with the standings? When's the next race?

 The web site is http://www.revolution-racing.com/

Next race is this Saturday, starts out with a prologue Time Trial then the crit race.  I am wicked exicted for the TT, took the tri bike out today and got in 44 miles with a couple of 1.5 mile TTs and a bunch of interval training!!

Prizes - Don't know but is says $2900 in prizes (that is for all the categories).

And for M. Express is was a total blast!!

Usually 5's don't get cash prizes, but that might be the case in this series. Congrats on doing so well!

Road racing is a blast and very addictive ...... trust me ......
