I need your thoughts. I started training in Jan for my first mini-tri in March. I did my second two weeks ago and have my third on Saturday. The last of the mini-tri series is at the end of June and I plan to end my season Aug 1st at the River Cities tri in Shreveport, LA. I'm loving it, but I am looking forward to the end of my first "season."

I just heard about a nearby mini-tri on July 11th. My first instinct is to opt out of it (I'm getting tired, people), but I know I would be doing the distances in my training for the last tri. What do you think? I'd be doing a tri; two weeks off and then a tri; two weeks off and then my last tri. Is this too much or am I just a little tired right now?

My adivce would be to listen to your body. Since you are training for a longer distance, maybe it wouldn't be bad if you did it and just used it as a training session to gauge your progress. I know some people who do 2 races in 1 weekend or 2 in successive weeks. Just depends on your body, how you feel, how well you recover, etc.

Hope this helps and good luck

thats rough...unless u can aproach this with a diff mentality...more relaxed perhaps as this is your current distance?  so u can save your juices for august.  tough decision though...in the end, listen to your brain...not your heart.

Thanks jmc and Ron. I don't have to decide yet, and it sounds like I wouldn't be violating a hard and fast tri rule regardless of what I decide. I'm not a kid; I'm 45, so I know I need more recovery time than all of you youngsters posting here and I think I'll wait to decide on how my next race goes (this Sunday). I'm feeling very, very tired right now so I am planning to take the rest of the week off (or in light enjoyable exercise), but I'm not signing up for a race in my mind-set.
