Pre-race routine:

Had some breakfast, read a little bit, and drove to the race, listening to Cowboy Junkies and singing along with Margo--an octave lower since it was still pretty early.
Event warmup:

Walked from truck to WTC, picked up my packet, and went in search of the other BT'ers. Met up with everyone, chatted a while, saw the 1/2 mary runners off, and started off!

Comments:

Pretty basic course with a couple of bridges and hills.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing much, I guess. Was sick in January and February a fair amount so didn't get my running in as I planned. I've only lost ~20 seconds a mile from my October 10K, so I feel all right about that.
Post race
Warm down:

Find BT'ers. Cheer in 1/2 mary runners (go everyone!).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Definitely lack of run training the last couple months due to illness. I'm back in good health now, though, so I'm looking forward to maybe a 10K in April to see how I do.

Event comments:

Lots of long lines, but everything seemed to go smoothly. One note: I CHRISTENED A PORT-A-POTTY! I couldn't believe it. It was totally clean and pristine and empty--even the TP was still wrapped. Definitely one of the highlights of the morning.

Hi Amanda, I thought you ran faster than that.  You were just a couple min after I arrived the finish line!

I was nice seeing you today

Wow, it was so good to see you again, glad you made it to the race!  And you had a good run after being out of the loop for a few months.  Spring is coming, we'll have to pick a 10-K race sometime and get the BT-ers together and do it!

Amanda, there's nothing shabby about that pace at all! Great job considering the circumstances of the last few months...

WOW you christened a porta-potty?

I am truly envious.
