Today I crossed the 1000 mile mark for the year on the bike. The cool thing about that is that I accomplished this 46 days earlier then I did in 2005. Part of the increase can be attributed to run cut back in March, based on April 7 ankle surgery, but I am still really doing a good job of getting all my rides in. So lucky to live in a climate that allows riding year round.

I have selected several of you high mileage bikers as my secret nemesis's. Once you become a nemesis, I have to catch you and I obsess over your logs until I pass you. I really like having secret nemesis'.

Ha! that's great! I need a nemesis. Think it will improve my game. of course, actually training would do that too.

edit : and WooHoo on the 1000 miles 46 DAYS earlier!

My "nemeses" (if you can call them that) are not the distance in the logs, but the speeds in their workouts and PR's in races ...... But I also know that I cannot beat them at their game as long as they continue to train at the same level or higher than I do ......

But what the heck, this is my first season really training for a tri, so every race is a PR.

Dang ... 1000 miles so far this calendar year?  That is twice as much as I have been able to fit in!  Good job getting the time in the saddle.

Hmmmm, Now I've got my eye on a nemesis ...

If you're counting me among those nemeses (sp?), you're beating me by a ton. I've actually run more miles these last two months than cycled. Just remember I rode 900 miles last April.

C'mon DST!

I'll never be your nemesis - a.) I'm not yet a high-mileage biker, although starting my commuting next week will help that and b.)  My wife is the only one that gets to obsess over my log.

Sorry!

Not fair! It is a lot harder to get big miles while riding inside! Oh well, count me as one of your nemesis as I will start riding outside no matter what >>> insert evil laugh here <<<

Good job!

Yes, I been riding on my trainer a lot more this year too. My Chris Carmichael DVD is mainly the reason for that. So no big miles for me yet.

So who are your nemises Ken?

It may be fun to posts our nemesis.  Of course it's all in good fun.

Mine is JohnnyKay and thegomer.  I don't know either guy, i know they are both from my area and we are all doing the same races.  I need someone to push me.

Not my nemeses per se, but my motivation to get faster.

- amiine, Marvanett and TH3FRB for running

- run4yrlife for swimming

- my cyclometer and riding/racing history from 10 years ago for cycling ......

I am in the same boat with a lot of riding being indoors. I do have over 42 hours under my belt though......that should be over 700 miles easy.

If I tell them who they are they may not let me sneak past them, but okay here I go. I really like chasing the former bike racers and roadies. I know I have a climate advantage on some of them but here we go:

Current # 1 Nemesis (sp) is oneword. My climate advantage over him is minimal but still he is the only person that I have noticed who has more miles than me year to date.

Others who are dangerously close and could pass me with a good weekend are Megerj and Tri Take Me Away.

I am a big fan of Amine (Jorge's) training logs. I am cataloging his power workouts for future use.

I always keep a close eye on Jeng, Bear, and Daremo. Jeng is only a couple hundred miles behind and she does most of her miles in races!!! Bear has the 900 mile month last year, but everyone knows Jeng outrode him last year by less than a mile (if he had a yellow or black bike he might have found that mile) . Daremo has got some serious miles in and I enjoy hearing his bike racing knowledge, I hope I can hold him off once the weather warms up.

My best racing buddy from last year was H13. We brought the best out in each other on the bike and I hope I get to race with him again. He has turned in to a marathoner now and I think he may get his revenge if I don't duck him.

Nemeses are good for you!!!!!

Don't worry about me catching up in miles ..... baby #3 is due any day and our house is now scheduled to be finished around the beginning of June (so I'll have to move us again) and that means I theoretically will not be able to train as much ..... but don't tell my motivation that.

I think it is awesome that you have a "carrot" to keep you motivated to train and do your best. It is always inspiring to have goals and challenges!

Wow, I had no idea that I was so close to the bear last year. Thanks for keeping track.

Last year, I didn't start logging until March, so hopefully I will able to beat myself this year. I am my own nemesis.

I watch yours, mejerj & oneword's logs, but thanks for sharing the others. I was missing a few.

Noted.

I might have to start logging the mileage of the warm up and cool down from my weekly races.

Care for a friendly wager?

Brett,

Don't take the bait, she is The Cycling Goddess, she bikes in the rain, she bikes when we sleep, and she doesn't have any triathlons on her schedule.
