Orlando - ans?

Whatever.  Anyway - I have to be in Orlando for work the last full week in May.  Since I have never been to Florida in my life, I decided to extend my trip for some much needed R&R.  I'll be done working on Wednesday before noon, and my return flight is Saturday at o'dark thirty.  So call it 2-1/2 days to live it up.

I have a girlfriend flying in on Wednesday to keep me company in my quest for fun.  She is a Florida virgin as well, so we are a blank slate for plans.

I need some help figuring out what to do!

The choices we have so far are......stay in Orlando, buy one of those el-cheapo family packages that have 3 days in a hotel and two adult tickets to any park for a couple hundred bucks.....do the touristy Disney or Sea World thing one day and spend the other doing the Orlando night scene.  I will have already been to CityWalk on Tuesday night for work, but if it's fun we could go back.  Even if we don't want to go to the parks, it seems like we'd come out way ahead on the cost of the hotel alone!    OR, rent a car on Wednesday, drive to either coast, find a hotel on a beach somewhere and drink like fishies and soak up the sun.

I am open to any and all suggestions that won't get us arrested - we've already been in trouble with the law for our antics and promised our husbands it won't happen again

A good well rounded day trip would be to Busch Gardens.  It's a full day and you get to go at your own pace plus you get to have two free glasses of beer.

You get free beer at Sea World too.  BG and Sea World are owned by Anheuser Busch.   Wait for them to change beer guys, then go back in line

I don't know much about Orlando, but check out F150TPA.  He'll know.

FREE BEER ?!  Seriously?

Now this is sounding like MY KIND OF VACATION !  Florida really knows how to run a theme park....something for the kids, and their parents can get stinking drunk at the same time....woo hoo!

yep, their "Hospitality House" gives out two draft cups per person, per day.    You can sneak back into line to get more, or use your kids.  No, really, just kidding on the kids part.  My hubby doesnt drink, so I get four all at once.  ahhhh.................

You can also see the Clydes at BG (the horses, not our lovely big men of BT) there.   OH, there's a shuttle bus  that runs from Sea World to BG so you don't have to drive from Orlando to TPA and back again.   You can sleep off the free beer buzz!!

Bush Gardens is fun, many animals. Church street can be interesting. I would recommend the east coast of FL, much nicer beaches.

That is one thing I was wondering about, which coast is nicer and also what the condition of the beaches will be, what with all last hurricane seasons bad activity.

The areas that you'll want to visit will be recovered from the hurricanes. In my opinion Alantic beaches are much better than those on The Gulf. Why? The waves are much bigger on the east coast. Almost 100% chance of getting into the water on the west coast. If you're on the east coast and theere is alot of wind from the west or northwest, the surf is going to be big and you need to a strong brave cautious swimmer to get in. East coast is going to be more relaxed and less crowded also.

I can TOTALLY vouch for Lucy being a fun, happy girl!!!  I can answer any questions you have about Orlando...I lived there for 7 years.  Fire away!

Some suggestions off the bat.  Downtown Disney Pleasure Island.  Fun times if you like to spend money.       CityWalk.  Fun times if you like to spend MORE money.      Downtown Orlando has a bunch of fun cool bars and cantinas.          For great shopping hit the Orlando Premium Outlets, near Downtown Disney.

Besides the obvious, you could always get a workout in at the National Training Center...

I'm not sure where you're used to working out, but this is better. Check out this pool -
http://www.usat-ntc.com/aquatic.htm

Also, 37,000 sq. ft. gym, and 400 meter track with a "Eurotan Premier Sandwich, a impermeable synthetic surface". World class coaches and scientists.

Get all your testing done as well - http://www.usat-ntc.com/performance_human.htm

No, I don't work there or make commission - I'm just jealous of the facility (which beats my Y with 25 yards x 4 lanes, 1/18th of a mile track, and never an empty bike).

I'll be watching the thread, as I'm going down for my first HIM on 5/21 - you should have extended the early weekend instead, and taken it on :-)
