Subject: RE: speed workouts during taper A very general rule of thumb is to reduce the volume but keep both the intensity and frequency.
If you're normally doing 6 x 800 repeats plus a 10min warm up/down, then the first week of taper you can reduce to just 3 repeats, then the 2nd (last ) week of taper turn this into a normal run with some accelerations--at this point speed work won't help you get faster. |
