Subject: 55 and crazy
saw the port McQuarie Ironmasn when holidaying in OZ last month.
Thought i'd have a go. Ran a 3 hour marathon when i was 42 but not a lot iof excersise taken in the past 3 years.

Main problem ? My swimming !

You're not crazy...or maybe you are (?)  Who knows.  My family thinks I'm crazy.  My wife says it's a mid-life crisis.  So what if it is;  it's better than vegging in front of the TV with soda and a bowl of chips on my lap.  All I know is training has made me feel better than I have in 10 years.

Go for it, start training, at 55 you still have many years (Lord willing).  I ran into a guy at the pool this week who is in his 70's.....he's doing 10 Tri's this year!!!

 OH...by the way,  I thought swimming would be the hardest part.  I kind of dreaded it.  After 9 months of training, it's now my favorite.  Just read the swimming articles on BT and check out all the threads.  There's plenty of help here   :-)

Did my first sprint triathlon at age 50 in early 2004,  three years after having open heart surgery.  You're no crazier than the rest of us.
