Okay, I know it's no big shakes for all of you - but today I did my longest swim ever (1600 yards) with no stopping AND did bilateral breathing for all but the first 100 warm-up yards.

Yay! Happy dance.

Unfortunately, it wasn't until afterwards that I remembered that when the switch the pool from 50 meter lanes, it switches to 25 YARD lanes. So, I _thought_ I was doing a mile. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to do it again and do the extra 160 yards, eh?

Congratulations! I always laugh at how long it takes me to notice when they switch the pool from 25 meters to 25 yards or vice versa. I'm sure you'll knock out the extra yards with no problem.

Does that mean your previous max was 800m??

Good work for the bilateral breathing.

It's always good to start each workout with a goal, and you get much faster.... like doing every flip turn in the workout.

No - my previous longest was 1100 meters. "Double" meant that I met a distance goal and met a bilateral breathing goal.

Sadly, I do not know how to do a flip turn. I also get dizzy VERY easily. So, every time I've tried to do one, I've would up feeling rather ill. I figure in the majority of races I won't be flip turning anyway, as I'll be in open water. So, I haven't spent much time working on it.

I just feel open-turning kills your workout's intensity. My opinion anyway. If you want to get less dizzy, dip your head down about 30cm early before placing your feet overhead, don't twist until you push off... and when you do you can slowly twist so it doesn't bother you.

Easy - they have two movable bulkheads in a 63 meter pool. When they push them both to one end, it's a 50 meter lap pool with separate shallow end. When they move one to the middle, it's 2 25-meter lap pools plus a shallow end.

Hm. I'll have to try that. I should really just pop for a few swimming lessons so I can have someone teach me how to do it, eh?

where i swim it becomes a 23m and a 25m pool - an absolute pisser if you get stuck witht he 23m as its crap anyhow but its also shallow and it messes my maths up! lol!

Congrats Deanna! I remember how pleased I was at swimming non-stop for any distance. Good for you!
