Subject: Swim Coaches in Houston?

Hi everyone,

I need to get my swimming form in gear and would like some help finding a swim coach to help with that.

I'm currently at 2:15-2:30/100m for anything 300m or over so it seems to me that I certainly need some work.

Any suggestions for coaches in the Houston area?

Thanks in advance,

twomarks

There is a Tri club at Dad's swim club that meets 2 or 5 times a week.  It is not individual one on one coaching unless no one else shows up in the morning.  But Regina does private lessons as well.

I don't know if he is doing private lessons anymore, but TJ Fry of Swim Shops of the Southwest is known to be a great coach.

You might look at the JCC (Jewish Community Center) on Brasewood in Meyerland (near Reliant).  They have a master swim class on Tues and Thurs morning at 5:30 and on Sunday at 6:30 am.  The cost is $55 per month.  If you join the JCC its $51-$71 per month for single and $81-$101 per month for a couple they include the master swim class.  The gym is nice.  Small but very comfortable with enough equipment and never crowded...treamills, bikes, elipticals, spin classes (and others), weights.  Oh, they also have a 50 meter outdoor pool and a 25 meter indoor pool.  The outdoor pool is not open in the winter.  Hear's the link to JCC.  My wife and I joined first part of September and we love it.

You might also look at Rice University.  They have a masters program and have 7 day a week classes in the morning and evening.   Don't know much about it except I think it's about $65 per month and the coach is good.

Dads Club is a great option. My wife grew up swimming with Ray (Regina's older brother and the head coach at Dads Club) and she says that Regina is a good coach.

Yes,  but I forgot to mention that Dad's club Tri Swim Training will begin 3 month break on November 30th, with regular scheduled practices resuming February 29th

So not a good time to join.

Thats a good point. If you are looking for a good swim coach now, send me a PM. I'm sure that between my wife (swam for Auburn, used to coach at Dads with Ray), Ray (head coach at Dads), or Regina, I could get you hooked up with one of them. I have never met Regina but I know my wife and Ray are both good coaches.
