Swim
Comments: Swim is my weakness and I am struggling during it. Frustrating, since I spend 3-4 days a week in a pool and tried all sort of drills, exercises etc... My race usually starts after swim. This was the most brutal swim experience I had so far. I got kicked in my belly, hit many times. I guess I need to train harder. What would you do differently?: Train more! Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Started raining and then many accidents happened, including Chris Lieto at the beginning of the bike. I saw few guys crashed their bike or lying on the side of the road. I crashed myself somewhere 5K before end of bike. happy that bike wasn't damaged, stand up and continue racing. Lost maybe 1 minute on that. One thing that surprises me is that we are talking a lot about fact tha drafting is cheating and I see groups forming and people drafting all over the race. Not cool! What would you do differently?: Don't fall!:) Transition 2
Run
Comments: I think I can improve my run a lot, just not enough endurance for now. I was getting steaches for more than half of the run. First 5 and last 4 K feeling good and speed up. What would you do differently?: Train more long runs. Post race
Warm down: Got to medical tent, clean wounds from bike crash, got nice cold towers to cool myself down. Drink a lot, had a nice massage. What limited your ability to perform faster: My swim and lack of endurance on the run. Event comments: My first half ironman. I was estimating to finish around 5:15 and manager to go faster and I am happy about. I am really frustrated with my swim and not happy about bike crash, but since my bike is ok, nothing really happen there. I need more endurance for my run. Maybe not the best idea that it was first time I run half marathon race in tri race. Will try to find some running races for that. Overall, happy with my performance and see lots of areas of improvements. Last updated: 2010-12-28 12:00 AM
