Finished dead last in this last year...not gonna happen again this year.  I will be better prepared and better fueled, still may be outta my league but that is ok with me!

I couldn't do it last year due to the date coinciding with another race I'd already committed to earlier in the year, but I can do it this year. Can't wait! After a bunch of sprint distances over the last 15 months, I'm trying to get into a few Oly/Int'l distances this year.

It is an exciting race, the biggest I had ever been to.  I had done only sprints prior to this race so I wasn't sure what to expect.

Suggested idea for finding your bike in the racks...put a flag on the end of your rack isle or some tape on the ground.  One lady I spoke with after the race said she couldn't find her bike; she had a really nice bike and thought it would be easy to spot until she realized lots of racers had the exact same really nice bike!

Who is going?  New bike route should make a world of difference and blocking off the run will be nice too.  Who is ready for this race?

I kinda wish they would start the Olympic before the Sprint, that way slow people like me wont be coming in totally late!  This will be my first Olympic and I am not ready at all, but bring it on anyway!  Hoping to have an amazing swim and good bike, but hope my run doesnt suck too bad!  Everyone post bib #s when we get them, I will be on the lookout!

No, they start the sprint first, that way, the bike course is not clogged for the new people. Also, it is a pain to make those turns around the buoys when it s congested.

You will do fine. Last year I was in last and the bands still played for the stragglers but the aid stations only had water and no Heed.  Hopefully that will be changed too.

What are you swimming at now and biking?  This event is huge and its a bit out of my league but I am so glad they changed the bike...that is going to help me a lot!

Good luck all!

Remember, they changed the bike course for all the races a few days ago, and the bike leg is shorter now. 8.5 for the sprint and I believe 17 for the Olympic if I am correct.

Athlete guide and bib #s are out.  Im 1847, starting in wave 3. Look for me to finish last!  Looks like they shortened the bike course again so the olympic distance will make 3 loops for 21miles. Who else is in??

Lauren, I am so sorry I could not find you...helps if I remember your bib number! How did you do?  Other than the swim I really enjoyed myself.  As soon and my feet hit the water they cramped so badly.  But a quick stretch and that was fixed.  Then I put my goggles on and there was something all over them that I did not have enough time to wipe off!  I couldn't see at all!  So  I had to keep  lifting my goggles up to see where  to go...I couldn't even see the person in front of me...soooo I had a horrible swim!  The rest of the race was what I pictured...my bike was actually a little slower than I had hoped, 17 mph instead of 18.  That is just a more training issue, same with the run.  I finished strong and even chicked a guy who I had passed then he would pass me through the entire run.  Finished stronger this year!

I did as good as I expected for my first olympic!  3hrs, 53min.  I had a pretty good swim (31min).  That was the only thing I had actually trained for, so it was decent for me.  Something about the salt water made me want to gag though.  I fought that the whole swim but the swim was good.  On the first lap of the bike, I was averaging around 16-17mph, but by the airport on the second lap, i broke a spoke, which made it difficult to ride.  My gears kept slamming hard also when i shifted (bike is at the bike shop now!)  That made the rest of my slow.  I did as good as I expected on the run too. Toes curled up right around the corner from the finish so I walked for a bit.  More than anything, I wanted to finish and I did.  I am hoping to do one more of this distance before my Oceanside.  I didnt see you either.  I was kind of not even looking around, just doing my thing.  A few of my friends doing the race had to yell at me to even get my attention.  Maybe next time we can meet!
